JPost – The government is expected to vote Sunday on a process to allow for the release of 104 Palestinian prisoners as a goodwill gesture during what Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said would be at least a nine-month negotiation period with the Palestinians.

The vote comes in advance of the renewal of direct talks, possibly as early as Tuesday in Washington with Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and special envoy Yitzhak Molho.

    The US should release leading prisoners from Guantanamo, etc., first to see whether this is a sound strategy for making peace with al qaida. If it works, then Israel will be more than happy to use the same technique with the PLO.

  • It’s a good thing that the President itself is making a move to start a new peace agreement.
