JPost – Unnamed US officials leaked information Thursday on alleged Israeli air strikes in Syria, and told The New York Times they expect an additional attack by Israel in the near future.

The sources, described by the Times as “American intelligence analysts,” discussed what they said were classified assessments, according to which a July 5 IAF strike on a Syrian facility housing Russian surface-to-sea missiles in Latakia failed to destroy them all.

    these “leaks” are not real leaks, they are disinformation approved by the highest levels of the american administration. edward snowden is an example of what happens to a real leak.

    official leaks have been used to undermine israel throughout hussein obama’s presidency, usually via the new york times. “intelligence sources” don’t risk their careers, their pensions, or their lives, to chew the fat with reporters.

    in this case, embarrassing assad could provoke a clash with israel, and helping the rebels, without involving congress or using american troops. which would be in line with the obama administration’s support for islamists throughout the region, and definitely not in israel’s interests.
