Wall Street Journal – President Barack Obama‘s drive to build support for an attack against Syria gained significant momentum as a range of congressional leaders, including House Speaker John Boehner, urged wary rank-and-file lawmakers to back a resolution authorizing the use of military force.

Mr. Boehner (R., Ohio) said Tuesday that striking Syria in retaliation for President Bashar al-Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons on civilians was necessary to reassure U.S. allies of American resolve and put adversaries such as Iran on notice.

    If Congress had not stymied and second guessed Obama at every turn he would have had the job done by now. But he is always damned if he does and damned ifhe doesn’t-what assurance is there of support.
