A pile of cash.

A rabbi in New Haven, Connecticut got one enviable return on his investment recently when he found $98,000 in a desk he bought off Craigslist for less than $200.

The local rabbi found the money while dismantling the desk, which had to be broken down into various pieces because it was too big to fit through the front door of his home.

Instead of keeping the money, he contacted the desk’s original owner, who said that it was an inheritance that had been misplaced.

Watch a TV report on the incident below.

This was indeed a great kiddush Hashem. I hope he received a monetary reward for his selfless and moral return of such a large amount of money! Of course he did not do it for any reward, but in light of the amount returned intact, I would think he has “earned” and deserves to be compensated for his wonderful integrity — & in a significant way/sum.

  • Fantastic! Think of how many more tables he could have bought with that money!!!

Fortunate for the lady that she didn’t sell the desk to BB Nuttenyahoo or anyone in the Israeli government.

What a useless blob to come on here and ruin a story that made most of us smile.
