An Israel Defense Forces aid mission on Thursday encountered scenes of physical devastation and heartbreaking tragedy, as the 147-member delegation made its way to the northern province of Cebu, in the Philippines, which suffered the most damage from Typhoon Haiyan that struck on Sunday.
The IDF team is providing search and rescue services, and setting up a medical facility, equipped with 100 tons of supplies from Israel, to be operated by IDF doctors, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, mental health professionals, x-ray technicians, and lab workers.
The IDF created a video blog to follow developments in the Philippines. The blog includes footage of Israeli soldiers helping children and the thousands of families left without homes in the wake of the violent storm.
