JNS.org – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cautioned world powers not to rush into a bad deal with Iran on its nuclear program amid reports that the P5+1 nations – the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, China and Germany – are nearing a negotiated solution with Iran ahead of the November 24 diplomatic deadline.

In a statement released by the Israeli prime minister’s office, Netanyahu said that he has sent a letter to the P5+1 countries that highlights Iran’s desire to annihilate Israel.

“He’s [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenai] publically calling for the annihilation of Israel as he is negotiating a nuclear deal with the P5+1 countries,” Netanyahu said.

“There is no moderation in Iran. It is unrepentant, unreformed, it calls for Israel’s eradication, it promotes international terrorism, and as the IAEA report just said, it continues to deceive the international community about its nuclear weapons program. This terrorist regime in Iran must not be allowed to become a nuclear threshold power.” Netanyahu added. “I call on the P5+1 countries – don’t rush into a deal that would let Iran rush to the bomb.”

Last week a report was released by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a United Nations-affiliated nuclear watchdog, stating that its investigation into the potential weaponization of Iran’s nuclear program has stalled.

President Barack Obama had also sent a letter to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in mid-October expressing their shared interest in the fight against Islamic State jihadists in Syria and Iraq. TheWall Street Journal reported that the letter left Israel and America’s Arab allies out of the loop.

Netanyahu’s letter came amid reports that the U.S. may be softening its stance on Iran, allowing Iran to retain portions of its nuclear program, including the ability to enrich uranium.

However, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden told an audience of American Jewish leaders that the U.S. would never allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.

“I’ve heard so much malarkey about our position on Iran. Let me make this clear. We will not let Iran acquire a nuclear weapon, period! period ! period!” Biden said at the General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America.

“I would not put my reputation on the line were I not certain when I say we mean business,” he said.
