Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister, Yuval Steinitz on Sunday told Israel Radio that the Jewish state is engaged in what he termed a “huge” lobbying effort ahead of a Nov. 24th deadline for a deal on Iran’s nuclear program, suspected by Israel and western powers as being a covert weaponization project.

The head of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) Nuclear Committee said Sunday that the United States has sent Tehran an eight-page document, summing up the American position towards the Nov. 24th target date for formulating a nuclear deal, Israel’s Walla News site said.

“Excessive demands by the United States are leading to a deadlock in the talks,” committee chief Ibrahim Carhana told an Iranian news agency, adding that, “After a year of negotiations, we returned to the starting point – and even below zero.”

However, as part of the media effort, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday that “Iran is not your ally. Iran is not your friend. Iran is your enemy. It’s not your partner.

“Iran is committed to the destruction of Israel, just as the P5+1, the United States and the world powers are negotiating with Iran a nuclear agreement, the Ayatollah Khamenei, the ruler of Iran, calls for the annihilation of Israel. He just did that four days ago. He specified nine ways and reasons by which Israel should be destroyed. He’s participated in rallies and chants of ‘Death to America,’ ‘Death to Israel,'” Netanyahu stressed.

“This is not a friend, neither in the battle against ISIS nor in the effort, the great effort that should be made to deprive him [of] the capacity to make nuclear weapons. Don’t fall for Iran’s ruse. They are not your friend,” the PM cautioned.

“Look at what ISIS is doing now with assault rifles and pick-up trucks. Just imagine what Iran would do if it had nuclear weapons. So both our enemies are fighting one another and when they are, weaken both – don’t strengthen either one.”

According to Carhana, the document was transferred to Iran in the last round of talks held last week in Muscat, Oman. He did not reveal the full proposal, but said that the United States offered Iran a 30-year plan of action, including a decade-long track to gradually remove sanctions.

Iran would not be allowed to run more than 4,500 new-generation centrifuges, as part of the American proposal, and will be required to allow international inspectors unrestricted access to all its nuclear facilities, and all military installations in the country.

The Arak heavy water reactor will remain closed until its reactor is rebuilt as a “light water” system, that is, one that cannot be used by the military nuclear industry.

This week, one more round of talks are set to be held in Vienna, in an attempt to bridge the gaps between the parties, which include the P5+1 nations.

Last week, US President Barack Obama warned that the parties may not be able to reach an agreement by the deadline, with the Russian Foreign Ministry releasing a similar warning.

In a New York Times op-ed published in October, Steinitz wrote that Iran “has softened its inflammatory anti-Western rhetoric and shown some flexibility on less important issues, but we must not be duped by these gestures.”

“President [Barack] Obama must stand by his declaration that no deal with Iran is better than a bad deal,” wrote Steinitz.

  • I do not understand what makes Israel so special, that they would be the only ones to have nukes, so that they can terrorize the world, while Iran cannot have nukes to defend itself from declared enemy, ISRAEL. From what I have seen so far Israel endangers the region far more than Iran does.

“suspected by Israel and western powers as being a covert weaponization project.”

Western powers being the multinational news media corporations and not the elected governments of individual nations, who merely serve the news medias’ agenda under the guise of serving ‘public opinion’ instead of the policies that they got elected for.

  • Mick

Just look at what Israel is actually DOING to the Palestinians !

  • Jack

Despite the risk we all sense, as a rational side effect of the situation with Iran and it’s intractability over nuclear issues (power and weapons), what Obama has done is to clear the field so to speak, making positive gains or suffering retribution the only real outcomes, as a direct result of Irani actions, based on their responsibility or lack there of.
Obama is a hard ass. Thankfully.
He said in the ‘o8 Democratic primary he would bomb Pakistan, and he did.
Better, his leadership got bin Laden.
I personally believe if you give Iran enough rope to hang themselves they will, and the rest of the world will be able to stand back in disappointment, and watch.
I am well aware that this is well short of satisfactory, but the mullahs in Tehran have yet to suss out that they are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
And the fact that it will cause Iran far greater hardship, not just fortune and life, than the rest of the world, well fully recognized by all, still does not detract from the bitter costs in real terms, or the harsh reality of a far less safe world.
Just look at A.Q. Khan and Pakistan’s stewardship in those areas.
Benji and Barry have no choice but to level the field and police appropriately.

    • Jack

p.s.,…and I suspect bombing might not describe the outcomes possible should the above said mullahs fail to be responsible in the international community.

It occurs to me, that since Herr/Comrade/Imam Obama is a wannabe dictator with no regard for popular opinion, that if he agrees to a “treaty” and declares that it is outside the realm of ratification, then this (and not the unilateral amnesty) is the issue on which he can be impeached.

Upon inauguration in 1/03/2015, there will likely be 55 Republican Senators (Manchin will switch). On top of that, there are 9 Jewish Democratic Senators (although Comrade Sanders of Vermont really has Communism as his religion, so maybe really only eight). Add to that the pro-Israel Democratic Senators in either red states (North and South Dakota, Montana and Indiana) as well as in states with large Jewish populations (CT, NJ, NY, PA, MD) — and I think on this issue, you could get 2/3 of the Senate to vote impeachment.

Of course, Obama would not go quietly, so he would likely declare martial law, so it is important that the military not obey him in that case.

Iran is not your friend, our president is not your friend he also is not our friend. God has au message for the international court of criminals, the U.N., islam, and all those partaking in the dividing and the take down of Israel. Their is a a God factor you are all overlooking. Europe on its quest to understand the God factor spent billions of dollars on a nuclear collider. Well you are about to get a free understanding of the Helter skelter you are going to unleash on yourselves by attempting to split an Israeli atom called Israel. You are going to unleash mayhem and destruction on this planet never before seen since the beginning of its creation. Putin let this be a lesson to you about crossing red lines in the sand drawn by God, be very careful walking that Godlet. Watch Europe and its not so complicit involvement, as it burns and tailspins into the abyss. Israel God also has a message for you, he wants to remind you that he has a contract with you called a covenant if you draw near to him he will draw near to you. The only one who stands between you the little horn and his forces is Him, he has contracted with you in the ancient times to protect and defend your people, your civilization, your nation and your priestly race. Turn to him, humble yourselves in sack cloth and ashes, his sword is double edged killing all those who come against his kingdom and his rule. Very dangerous time to warship golden calves.

  • Trying to debate with Islamists is like trying to play chess with a pigeon. It will knock over all the pieces, crap on the board and claim victory.

    • zadimel

Do not insult pigeons with your comparison to Islamists. On the other hand, your analysis is correct!

    • Mark

You see no irony in youy chess v Islam metaphor? Probably not.

  • As a matter of fact, the P5+1 should not have the nuclear talks in the first place. Iran is a nation full of hate and wants world power, even over ISIS. The Islamic Republic has no intention of cutting down it support of terrorism or promote world peace. It is using those so-called “talks” as a game as who outsmarts the other while building nuclear weapons in secret. To all the nations around the world, do not fall for Iran’s tricks!

    • zadimel

Unfortunately, no one is listening to your comments, as they grasp hat in hand in their efforts to collect as much business as possible from Iran, and to hell with the consequences.

  • Robert Davis

Of course parties will not be able to reach an agreement neither on 24th november 2014 nor on november 2020 Nor 2030!!! And the reason is NOT “excessive demands” but total rejection of US demands by iran and even the “US” ie ebolabama whom we do not consider a US president since he is not an american but a mere delinquent squatting the White House. The only way to force iran give up is to BOMB repeat to BOMB the facility and its secondary facilities. As to the EXCUSE obama uses sometimes to stop such bombings saying they “cannot” bomb ALL the buildings this is a POOR EXCUSE because even if they bomb 50% all progress will be STTOPPED. On top of that iran would be forced to negociate SERIOUSLY to avoid more bombings which can continue if iran does not comply. BOMBINGS MUST BE STARTED NO MATTER IF THEY DESTROY 100% the facilities or only partly.

    • zadimel

I agree that bombing all the nuclear research and production facilities would be necessary to cripple Iran’s threats to Europe, the UK,Israel and US(and allied) bases and sea forces, massive operations would also have to be conducted against Iran’s ground forces. By the time the above military planning and organizational structures would be arranged, the Iranians could launch a first strike against US and allied forces in the Persian Gulf area and seriously cripple Israeli forces.Regarding the latter, the IDF would have to spread much of its nuclear arsenal across the length and breadth of Iran, and that alone would destroy much of its military capability before .

  • demasiada larga la espera, solo beneficia a Iran, es como esperar que el delincuente cargue el revolver, antes que dispare hay que eliminarlo, sin contemplacion

    • Robert Davis

Funes : I entirely agree with you : reloading its gun is exactly what obama is waiting for; Que carge el revolver!

    • Straightshooter

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con Iosef, Iran es un grave peligro a todo el mundo. Hay que reiniciar el boicot ya mismo con más firmeza y dedicación.

  • Efram

Obama will not stand by any of his statements. When he stated he was opposed to Iran building nuclear weapons, he was lying. He will accept a deal which in no way limits Iran from building nuclear weapons, and they will be built. This is what Obama, an Islamist, wants.

  • Prime Minister Netanyahu is a lone voice crying in the wilderness….speaking words of wisdom….Who is listening?
