JNS.org – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that a nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic and P5+1 nations will likely not be announced Monday, marking yet another deadline postponement in the tense negotiations. Talks are now expected to continue into Tuesday.

However, a deal announcement may still be expected soon, despite a statement by the White House that “some sticking points” remain “unresolved,” among them the issue of a UN weapons embargo, reported Fox News.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani indicated progress by tweeting that “#IranDeal is the victory of diplomacy & mutual respect over the outdated paradigm of exclusion & coercion. And this is a good beginning.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the negotiations, though stressing that Israel had no intention to try to stop an agreement.

“We never committed ourselves to preventing an agreement, certainly not one that the major powers are ready to sign at any price. We did commit ourselves to prevent Iran from arming itself with nuclear weapons – and indeed, were it not for our efforts over the years, Iran would already be able to develop atomic bombs,” he said at the Knesset on Monday, Yedioth Achronoth reported.

“Even over the weekend, as Iran continued to receive more and more concessions at the negotiating table, Iranian President Rouhani led a march of hatred in the streets of Tehran in which the masses cried, ‘Death to America! Death to Israel!'” Netanyahu said.

“If the concessions continued even after these unequivocal calls for the destruction of those conducting the negotiations, it seems that there are those who are ready to make an agreement at any price – and this bad agreement is unavoidable,” he added.
