More and more details of the Iran deal are being revealed to the public, but still many are kept secret, writes Shmuley Boteach. Photo: Wikimedia.

Just as the deal with Iran was signed last month — even before we’d seen its myriad details — we all feared the worst. In the weeks since, however, even more serious suspicions have been all but confirmed.

It was bad enough to read that Iran would have a minimum of 24 days notice before any inspections, enough time for the mullah’s to, in the words of Olli Heinonen, the former deputy Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), “sanitize the place, make new floors, new tiles on the wall, paint the ceiling and take out the ventilation.” It was likewise troubling to hear that the deal would leave 5,060 centrifuges at Natanz and another 1,000 at Fordow all operational, while placing no restrictions on Iran’s research and development of newer, faster machines. It was frightening, too, to see that Iran’s development program for intercontinental ballistic missiles — designed as they are to strike the American homeland — wouldn’t be hindered in the slightest.

There were a lot of terrible things to be seen in the deal. But, troubling as they were, all of these things were a lot less frightening than the things we didn’t see. Because there’s a whole other side to this deal, one that is beyond the sights of the American people, and perhaps Congress and even the State Department.

What we saw is not what we got. The deal with Iran is packed with secrets and exploding with surprises. The Administration wants a deal so desperately that it will engage in subterfuge in order to get it.

New York Times on Jewish Identity: Pork, an Israel-Apartheid Slur and Bashing Adelson and Netanyahu

Sunday’s issue of “T,” The New York Times' style magazine, carries a four-page feature headlined “Great American Novelists” in which...

Reports, confirmed by National Security Adviser Susan Rice, have revealed two secret deals struck between the IAEA and Iran.

These side deals were meant to allow the IAEA to investigate “Potential Military Dimensions (PMD)” of Iran’s nuclear program – the most critical aspect of the agreement. Since 2011, when the IAEA’s announced its suspicions of a military side to Iran’s nuclear program, Iran refused to cooperate with the UN body’s inquiry. But, suddenly, on the eve of the July deadline, the obstinate Iranians finally agreed to accommodate the IAEA’s inquiry into any “Potential Military Dimensions” to their nuclear program.

What changed?

Well, they signed a secret deal.

A deal so secret that it is off-limits even to the United States and will not be provided by the Obama administration to Congress for their 60-day review.

But these deals are there – and they’ve crippled the IAEA.

During an interview for Iranian TV discovered by MEMRI, Ali Akbar Salehi, chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, told a reporter that the Iranian government would not have to worry at all about the upcoming IAEA report on the military dimensions of their past nuclear programs. Any problems with the IAEA, he volunteered, had been resolved on a “political level.” The IAEA would not act freely, he went on, but would be forced to act “reasonably.” “In short, they will be the losers.”

The IAEA report has been predetermined by political pressure from higher ups. The Iranians have nothing to fear, which makes an absolute mockery of the entire deal.

Further disturbing leaks have emerged. During a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, Democrat Bob Menendez revealed how the IAEA has agreed not only to forego its right to inspect Iran’s suspicious activities “anytime, anywhere,” but it will now only analyze uranium samples provided by Iran.

In Menendez’s words: It’s the “the fox guarding the henhouse.”

And John Kerry’s response to Menendez’ valid point was to scold him for releasing “classified” details of the deal.

And there’s more of this “classified” information, too. According to The Daily Beast, the Obama Administration put 17 unclassified files on the Iran deal into special bins in the Capitol that can only be viewed by people with a security clearance. Why would such files, which can be viewed really by anybody, be held off-limits by the Administration? We don’t know — and that’s exactly the problem.

This deal would be farcical if it weren’t so dangerous and tragic. Iran signed a deal so slanted in its favor that the American president has chosen to hide massive slabs of it from the American people. And, as anyone might have predicted, this American cave-in has only emboldened Iran.

As Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei defiantly tweeted: “Even with the #IranDeal, our policies toward the US Arrogant system will not change. US policies in the region differ 180° from Iran’s.” He added: “The US is perfect instance of arrogance. Prepare yourselves for more fight against arrogance.”

Now it’s up to Congress. The Iran deal has proven itself ridden with lies and teeming with secrets, its UN guarantors bought and sold. Already many European nations have sent their foreign ministers to Iran to start the business bazaar with Tehran.

No doubt, more secrets about the Iran deal will come out. But most frightening is the prospect that some never will.

Sadly, if it’s implemented, more Americans will be in harm’s way of an emboldened and undeterred enemy.

Fear not lantzmen, for soon, very soon the lights will go out over iran. Military bases and missile sites will disappear and their nuclear facilities will be turned to a pile of toxic rubble, unapproachable by man for 150 years. And much of the world will breathe a sigh of relief. But brother, is Obama gonna be mad!

  • Only Obama could have pulled this off. He’s persuasive and a pro at inspiring confidence and trust. Who would have known he was being so sneaky and backhanded?

Khamenei was right on one point: America is arrogant…or at least one American, who happens to be the president, is arrogant. Instead of standing up to the mullahs, Obama is trying to stand up to the American people.

I remember 1964. Dinosaurs still roamed the land, and an unknown singing group from Liverpool, the Beatles, arrived in America to throngs of screaming, crying, fainting teeny-bopper fans. It was not a very well kept secret that, at first, many of the screamers, criers, and fainters were given free concert tickets by well-financed promoters. Soon the paid-for hysteria became spontaneous, and contagious.

Fast forward to 2004. An unknown Illinois State Senator, with a scant track record, was “somehow” chosen to be the keynote speaker at the Democratic Party’s national convention. The screamers, criers, and fainters came out of the woodwork.

In 2008, the full-court press was on. Complete with European venues, Greek columns, stirring music, soaring rhetoric, vague promises of “hope and change”, a seriously dumbed-down populace, a stunning lack of fact-checking, and (perhaps most important) an in-the-tank media, the well-financed promoters succeeded in generating a society-changing hysteria.

One of the all-time great promoters, P.T. Barnum, had it right. There’s a sucker born every minute.

Here stood their Temple with its boundless riches.”

    CONCLUSIONS FROM THIS QUOTE:

Muslims are LYING when they deny that Jews trace their historical origins to the Land of Israel.

Muslims are LYING when they deny that Jerusalem is the historical capital of the Jewish state.

Muslims are LYING when they deny the existence of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem.

If propaganda was as stink, this article would be a rotten fish.

The deal is solid, Benny’s hawkish hysteria just doesn’t pass the sanity test. Benny is bad leadership and will ruin Israel. No amount of propaganda will change that outcome. Get rid of him before he does more damage. We heard all the BS with WMD’s. Benny is the single biggest risk to Israel’s security.

Benny is a warmonger, accused war criminal, killed the Camp David Peace Accord, then there’s the apartheid and Gaza mess. All with Benny’s finger prints on it. He has not credibility and is making Israel isolated and irrelevant and maybe even inviting sanctions. Only an idiot fights a battle already lost. Get rid of him.

    • Mike Schwarzer

One last comment. Fear is the oldest trick in the world to get a blind following. Don’t fear what you don’t know, don’t pick teams like this was some sort of sport, look at the deal and understand it’s context. Don’t listen to the disjointed and spin and half truths. The deal is quite an accomplishment and solid.

Could it be made better, only if there was capitulation and or surrender, to think otherwise is irrational. So Benny’s nit picking is laughable.

Maybe we should have the same inspection regime for Israel so Benny really know what Iran gave away to make a deal. Also with so much dangerous talk from Benny, Iran and Israel don’t look very different except Israels human rights record is appalling.

Scearzer: spare us your ignorant diatribe. Go to Iran and see how a theocracy functions.

  • KRIS KRISTIAN

Kerry and Obama should face the Nation with the truth

They have committed one of the worst crimes in history. What will they say, if and when Iran send a nuclear missile to USA and kills thousands of US citizens, or if Iran fires a missile at Israel, which will kill hundreds of thousands of Israelis?
I think that Obam and Kerry have given the OK for Iran to “wipeIsrael off the map”

  • Jim42

Imagine a strong treaty with Hitler instead of weeakness from brit and frenchy and no war…?
No Jew would now be surviving the racist spread from Germany…
The way to get the Right on a Total War is to leave the enemy build his Fancies and Attack. The problem is then to survive the Attack and crush the enemy as GB and USA did with Hitler…! With Stuka and Panzer, it was still possible…Just US don’t consider the loss of the One Bomb Israel as a problem….! So, the strategy looks rather good…: Iran and Muslim World shouldn’t survive to such a Fault…

  • This is what happens when you have Obama, the Muslim president of the United States, and Kerry,a totally clueless, self-interested, self-serving “negotiator” supposedly representing the free world.

    • theo

The Iranian negotiators had prepared a detailed sketch of Obama and his negotiators They honed their negotiations perfectly Whatever was put to them they steered to their advantage They were playing the game they invented, chess They were moves ahead in every facet
The Iranians initially sized up Obama and liked what they saw : a weakling who would pursue a deal at whatever cost

  • steven L

The far left and Khamenei have united against the common enemy: the western democracies.
Will Schumer favor Obama or the country?

  • Florence

Fortunately, Kerry wasn’t elected president of he United States. He would have sold out this country even faster than the present POTUS. Now, I realize what the Vietnam soldiers where complaining about him when he was running. They knew what they were talking about. Is Kerry dumb than dumb or naïve? – or both?

  • ART

The treaty is a matter of Obama saying “don’t worry take my word for it”. If the treaty is legit then Obama should disclose the terms. ALL the terms. The iranians are stating terms very contrary to what Obama says. The only way to decide on supporting the treaty is to see the treaty in its entirety.

  • One of the secrets is that the powers are going to give Iran “Plasma technology for thermal energy” i.e. the Hydrogen Bomb.

Though fission energy can be used for civilian purposes, fusion energy cannot. It’s only purpose is to give the Iranians the Hydrogen Bomb.
