2015 Emmy Winners Include Jewish Actors, Directors, Screenwriters

JNS.org – The 2015 Emmy Awards were given out to winners that include some prominent Jewish actors, directors, and screenwriters.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for HBO’s Veep for the fourth time, while Jeffrey Tambor won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Transparent. The latter show’s Jewish creator, Jill Soloway, also won the Emmy for Best Directing for a Comedy Series.
Amy Schumer also won the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series Award for her show Inside Amy Schumer.
Jewish comedian Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, was honored with the Outstanding Variety Talk Series award, as well as the Outstanding Writing and the Outstanding Directing awards. Stewart recently departed from his longtime comedy show.
Meanwhile, Jewish screenwriters D.B. Weiss and David Benioff won an Emmy apiece for Outstanding Writing for Game of Thrones.
