Presidential hopeful Ben Carson said he would not advocate for a Muslim to become president. Photo: Facebook. – Dr. Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate, was blasted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for his remark that he “would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.”

“Dr. Ben Carson’s statement that a Muslim American should not serve as president is deeply offensive, un-American and contrary to the Constitution,” ADL National Director Jonathan A. Greenblatt said in a statement. “There is no religious litmus test for candidates seeking political office, and that includes the highest office in the land.”

Greenblatt continued, “The U.S. Constitution makes clear that any American citizen can run for president provided that he or she is a natural born citizen, age 35 or older, and resided for at least 14 years within the U.S….Dr. Carson’s statement directly contradicts the Constitution and the values embodied in it. In America, personal characteristics—whether race, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or religion—should have no bearing on person’s ability to serve. Rather, fitness to serve should be based on the individual’s merit: intellect, ethics, experience, and achievements….Whether directed against Jews, Muslims or others, such baseless comments breed hate and have no place in a presidential campaign or in public discourse.”

    The ADL is lacking commonsense.

We have seen and experienced the effect upon individuals by their culture and by their affiliations. For example, Obama’s Muslim background and his affiliation with the theology of Jeremiah Wright. Greenblatt is silly. One’s sociocultural context is very relevant to his development. An individual who is a Muslim in the context of what Islam is saying and doing in the world should evoke legitimate suspicions. We are entitled to examine our presidential candidates with certain prejudices. Beliefs are important. The separation of Church and State is about two distinct institutions; not about one’s ideology.

I listened to Dr. Carson’s statement carefully. He fully explained that if a Muslim followed the Koran (meaning wanting to implement Sharia) that person should not be our president. The good doctor further said that if a Muslim fully supported the Constitution (freedom of religion, speech and assembly) he saw no problem with such a Muslim serving as President. Dr. Carson’s problem is that he does not have sufficient experience as a politician in speaking with the liberal press who cannot not tell the truth if you put a gun to their collective heads. It is ironic that they put down corporate America, yet they work for corporate America and do what they can to make dollars for the bad guys, essentially by participating in lashon hara.

  • Read the Koran boys and girls. Read it objectively and than decide if you want a leader who is submissive to Allah? HK

Dr.Carson’s comments are wholly correct in that Islam demands that no Muslim follow anything but Shariah as the law. Shariah law is incompatible to the US Constitution. Dr. Carson’s comments are focused on Islam as the disqualifier, not the US Constitution. Those who today support shariah and the establishment of a global Islamic state (caliphate) are perforce supporting objectives that are incompatible with the U.S. Constitution, the civil rights the Constitution guarantees and the representative, accountable government it authorizes. In fact, shariah’s pursuit in the United States is tantamount to sedition. No practicing Muslim will swear to uphold, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Greenblatt is wrong.

Hence why some Jews will never understand the dangers of Islam until it’s too late. ..because they refuse to identify, confront and crush the enemy. .and it’s name is Islam!

  • I agree with Dr. Carson. America was founded on Christian principles by persons that had respect for the Bible with the aim of creating a democratic republic based on the God-given worth and freedom of the individual. Our country was NOT founded on sharia law, socialism, communism, or anarchy. As you said, a person should be fit to serve. A person that has a culture that embraces sharia law is not fit to govern in a democratic republic like ours.

While a fairly secular Muslim could be President, a religious one clearly could not, for the reasons Carson states.

As for the ADL, it became a leftist propaganda outfit under Foxman, and is even worse under its new leader.

I’m PROUD to say I’m with Dr. Carson on this one, the ADL is clearly brainwashed by leftist scum and the earth deserves a better explanation of “the religion of peace” before we all bend over clowns. So far, what’s their track record? Oh ya we need that in America, just watch Germany and the UK and grab your ankles idiots.

The attacks on Carson for his statement are totally irrelevant.Islamic theology itself stipulates that any and all governments must be run under Shariah Law. No human can create any law that is above and beyond the Will of Allah as written in the Koran.

Therefore there cannot be any Muslim running a USA govt. The Koran forbids it.

And despite the hysterical reaction from the Left, it is impossible to believe the American nation would ever elect a Muslim!
