Re: Anger at Netanyahu claim Palestinian grand mufti inspired Holocaust – Oct. 21

I believe you owe your readers an explanation for referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement about the Mufti as “incendiary,” while barely noticing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ truly incendiary statements praising the murderers of Jewish civilians, including children, and his use of hateful rhetoric, including calling for Jews “with their filthy feet” to be banned from entering the Temple Mount.

While Netanyahu’s statement may have been unnecessary and undiplomatic, it was not as absurd as the Guardian and other mainstream media make out. Editors are supposed to check their facts before rushing to publish.

There is no excuse for the Guardian to be ignorant of the Madagascar Plan, which confirms the PM’s assertion that Hitler initially wanted to expel, not exterminate, the Jews.

In 1938, the notorious Adolf Eichmann prepared a report advocating an evacuation plan for 4 million Jews to be shipped to Madagascar. In his paper, “Madagascar Plan,” Christopher Browning quotes Heinrich Himmler in May 1940 stating: “However cruel and tragic each individual case may be, this method is still the mildest and best, if one rejects the Bolshevik method of physical extermination of a people out of inner conviction as un-German and impossible.”

The plan was endorsed by the Third Reich in August 1940.

Damming evidence of the Mufti’s exhortations to exterminate the Jews was presented at the Nurenberg trials by none other than senior Nazi official Dieter Wisliczeny. On September 15, 1947, Drew Pearson, one of the best-known American columnists of his day, quoted Wisliczeny’s evidence in his column, “Washington Merry-Go-Round,” as follows:

In my opinion, the grand mufti, who has been in Berlin since 1941 played a role in the decision of the German government to exterminate the European Jews, the importance of which must not be disregarded. He had repeatedly suggested to the various authorities with whom he had been in contact, above all before Hitler, Ribbentrop and Himmler, the extermination of European Jewry. He considered this as a comfortable solution to the Palestinian problem. In is messages broadcast from Berlin, he surpassed us in anti-Jewish attacks. He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say that, accompanied by Eichmann, he has visited incognito the gas chamber of Auschwitz.

Sir, I am very sorry, but you are wrong. Hitler didn’t need anyones “help” to decide to kill the jews. He announced it several times since 1925, in “Mein Kampf”.
With Netanyahus speech, every denier of the Shoah, every old and new Nazi can refer on his words and say: “The Prime-Minister of the Jewish State confirmed, Hitler did not want to kill the jews”!
Netanyahus speech is outraging for everyone, who survived the Shoah or is a surviver’s descendant.

And by the way: His words turned into a boomerang, because everyone refers on his error. His intention, to set the arab responsability for Nazi-Crimes (and the origin of arab terrorism) on the agenda, failed.

Yes, Husseini was a follower of Hitler, a SS-officer (he leaded a SS-Brigade). He spoke to Ribbentropp to stop the rescue of a few hundred jewish childs. I know all that.

  • I have an idea, which may seem absurd and weird to many. Demolish all mosques, temples and churches on Mount Rock and construct a majestic hospital or university on it.

Can’t we all live in peace instead of always picking a fight, the aggretion of which can be channeled for good use?

    • Enzo Nahum

lucky matase bhila – “Can’t we all live in peace…?”
Very good point. Have you written and ask the same question to the palestinian and all ogther islamo-tyrannies?

Christopher Browning is the world’s leading scholar on the topic. He is the author of the Yad Vashem publication: The Evolution of Nazi Jewish Policy, 1939-1941 and was also the expert witness for Deborah Lipstadt in the David Irving libel trial. He is now the chief target of the deniers; in short he’s unimpeachable.

Haj Amin al-Husseini was an evil bastard (behind the riots of the 20s and 30s; supporter/sponsor of Bosnian SS unit/spent war in Berlin, etc). And, there’s no question that the Pal leadership is inciting the current trouble.

However, for Netanyahu to “affirmatively misstate”the origin of the final solution plays directly into the hands of both the Palestinians and Holocaust deniers (especially where they overlap).

It’s unbelievably depressing that an Israeli leader has so clearly assimilated the lesson of the big lie: make it outrageous enough and even otherwise reasonable people will believe it.

“Damming evidence of the Mufti’s exhortations to exterminate the Jews was presented at the Nurenberg trials by none other than senior Nazi official Dieter Wisliczeny”

It’s spelled “damning.” And think for a moment: why would a senior Nazi official want to downplay his own regime’s anti-Semitism in comparison with that of another entity — at a trial for killing 6 million Jews?

Extermination of the mentally ill and developmentally disabled had already been going on under Hitler’s rule before it began in the camps. And they didn’t just kill Jews, but Roma, Poles, homosexuals … but go ahead, please, I’m sure it was all an Arab’s idea.

  • David Marks

Does anyone bother to mention that Yasser Arafat was Egyptian, not Palestinian? Another inconvenient truth?

    • pnina judith

Yasser Arafat was also the nephew of Haj Amin al Husseini (the mufti)

  • Let us remember that the Israeli Government has historically desired to maintain the “status quo” by allowing Moslems to go up to the Holy Mount and pray at their mosques, while prohibiting Jews, (rabbinically and politically), from entering that Holy Space.

Having said that, our claim to the Temple Mount goes back much earlier than the rise of Islam; and in my opinion, the re-building of the Holy Temple of Israel, at the appropriate prophetic time, is an essential part of the establishment of World Peace.

  • Please see this two addressees:
1 – Meeting of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler and Grand Mufti of Jerusalem – Haj Amin al-Husseini – on November 28, 1941:

    And after TWO months:
2- And Wannsee Conference on January 20, 1942:

Of course, everyone can understand what he wants…!

The enemies of Israel are legion: the UN, Barack Obama and John Kerry, the liberal political machine in the US, the BBC, Sweden, France, American Universities that adopt a BDS policy, Iran, Syria, the U.K., Facebook, the muftis who claim each drop of spilled Jewish blood is sacred to them, biased news reporters (MSNBC), the New York Times, Hollywood…

I began years ago to wonder how to keep my family safe.

Maybe you should begin to wonder that paranoia and isolation is not a good way to make friends…

Short memories abounds in this world the Mufti was a kindly Palestinian who visited his bosom buddy Hitler and in course of conversation suggested it would be good to get rid of the Jews for good. Hitler jumped for joy and said goodie. Why there is indignation beats me the Mufti encouraged the Albanians to join && create an SS Totenkopf
Division specifically to murder Jews & other. The world that is showing indignation was the same that was complicit in the mass murder of the European Jews. One should remember all thee doors were locked to the persecuted Jew.
The Mufti has a good follower in Abbas, who does nothing but incite.

  • TMI

Please, do not make any more apologies to the rabid animals in the EU or the savages of the Islamic world.

Many non-jewish people are awakening to the real facts behind the illegal jihad occupation of Israel and the long history of constant persecution and genocide of not only jewish people but non-Muslims in general and even Muslim minorities, originating from the instructions posed in the Islamic texts. We are tired of the media. We are tired of the politicians.

This barbaric Muslim savagery around the world has GOT to come to an end. We need to educate people about the facts, not soften them or bury them and run around in circles.

Here is a slightly different wording in the translation from the signed deposition of SS Hauptsturmfuehrer Dieter Wisliceny from the Nuremberg tribunal:

“The Mufti [Amin al-Husseini] was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and advisor of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan, . . . He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say that, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited in-incognito the gas chamber of Auschwitz”
    — SS Hauptsturmfuehrer Dieter Wisliceny, in a signed official deposition submitted on July 26, 1946, to the Nuremberg tribunal.

Further, according to testimony at the Nurenberg trials, “[T]he mufti was a bitter arch enemy of the Jews and had always been the protagonist of the idea of their annihilation. This idea the mufti had always advanced in his conversations with Eichmann.”

The British archives from the British Mandate has plenty of evidence that the influx of thousands of flash mobs of Muslims from surrounding regions, on the encouragement of al-Husseini was an illegal and intentional strategy embedded in jihad.

In addition to this Félix Bonfils (1831-1885) was a French photographer and writer who was active in the Middle East. Four years after his arrival he reported 15,000 prints of Egypt, Palestine, Syria, and Greece, and 9,000 stereoscopic-views. He traveled to the region several times and we hear of no mass population of Palestinians, which contradicts everything the Palestinians lie about to the world.

Enough, enough, enough. Isn’t 1,400 years of this Islamic manhunt enough?

The Muslims need to be forced out of Israel one way or the other – and the rest of the world needs to get educated and step in and help to make it happen. We’re done with this Islamic savagery. It leaves no one in peace.

No country on earth will have any freedom or safety while there are Followers of Mohammed. What is Israel going to do. Wait till they outnumber the Jews? Then what?

  • Jean Vercors

    Excellent article

  • Jeremy Zeid

You need to emphasis that the Grand Mufti was an honourary SS general and that he was instrumental in forming the Bosnian Muslim SS, some of the most vicious and willing Nazis.

The G******** don’t owe anything to anybody apart from millions of Pounds to their lenders and the banks. They are going broke rapidly. So who cares what these crackpots say?

  • Guthi Tzvi

“While Netanyahu’s statement may have been unnecessary and undiplomatic…”
Hitler and his aides are despised by most of the world and most of the Germans. Here is the Mufti of Jerusalem- one of them, who warmly supported the mass-murderer.
This Mufti of Jerusalem is ardently praised by the mob that daily produces the knife carriers and stabbers here.
Netanyahu wisely made the connection and instilled it in the minds, including those of many ignorant Israelis.

  • David Goshen

The main concern of the Mufti was to encourage the Nazis to exterminate Jews and not banish them from Germany because he was against any of them getting to Palestine.
The Mufti also organised units of Mulims in the Nazi SS to actively participate in the Holocast.
What more evidence does one need to convince one that the Mufti actively pressed the Nazis to carry out the Holocast!

  • Thank you, Sir! I am so tired of these little prickly attacks against Mr Netanyahu. Clearly the fact that he knows more about history than his critics (poor Mrs Merkel included) irks them no end, so their only defence is to try & make him look & sound foolish, something they & their ilk can never succeed in.

  • Ghilmeini

Can anyone work at the guardian anymore without supporting genocide of the Jews? These are smart people, they know the Arabs do not want peace, it follows that their advocacy has an ulterior purpose, if one posits Israel as the second proponent of vibrant freedom and liberty after the US, if the US is enemy number one, then Israel is number two. Just as their Soviet masters programmed them, they robotically call for Israel’s destruction through war boycott or just hate. The far left allied with hitter in 1938, they honor that alliance to this very day. PC is evil lies designed to make the fight ideologically lopsided, any non left idea is verboten, totalitarian thought control through language, the last bit of orwells 1984 that no one reads, but should.

  • Fanny Lerner

How easy it is to criticize Israel. Thanks to your clear exposition of facts we get a clear picture of what P.M. Netanyahu was referring to.

  • Jack Tucker

Hitler, well before the meeting with the Mufti:

“In the course of my life I have very often been a prophet, and have usually been ridiculed for it. During the time of my struggle for power it was in the first instance only the Jewish race that received my prophecies with laughter when I said that I would one day take over the leadership of the State, and with it that of the whole nation, and that I would then among other things settle the Jewish problem. Their laughter was uproarious, but I think that for some time now they have been laughing on the other side of their face. Today I will once more be a prophet: if the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevizing of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!”
    Adolf Hitler – January 30, 1939

I don’t think that Hitler needed the Mufti to egg him on to killing the Jews.

  • steven L

For the Guardian, antisemitism justifies anything and everything. For anything Jewish, mendaciousness is THE RULE!
    We are used to it.
Jealousy is an INCURABLE and horrible disease. The lack of shame suggest a lack of the essence of humanity.
But the guardian is one among MANY.

  • It is painful to see U.S. media reacting to the revelations about the Mufti’s vocal and well-documented contributions to the emergence and planned escalation of the Final Solution. Bar-Ilan University post-doctoral scholar Edy Cohen has written extensively about the intense and concerted collaboration between the Grand Mufti and Hitler’s top operatives, relying on impeccable original materials, and on important journalistic research completed and published decades ago, in Israel. Once again, it is the Western world’s affirmative REFUSAL to look at the Arabic-language source materials on this history that allows ignorance to prevail, and that immunizes the Western journalists who attack PM Netanyahu so relentlessly. . . Just tonight, MSNBC accused Netanyahu of deliberately obfuscating history, when in reality, it is Western media’s shameless ignorance of well-documented accounts of true history that deserve condemnation.

  • Tell it like it was! Just read “Islam and the Nazi Germany”s War” explains it all. The only problem is who taught who!!! by David Montadel, Harvard Press

  • Dante

Al-Husaini also personally stopped 5000 Jewish children from being exchanged for 20000 German POWs in 1943, thus sending them to death. He thus was not just an ordinary Nazi collaborator but someone directly responsible for murder and genocide. Unlike Hitler, he is still regarded as a national hero by many Arabyans.

To paraphrase King Solomon; he who doesn’t remember the past is bound to repeat it. Seems the world is slowly forgetting the past and is certainly on a course in repeating all the past ills.

  • SeeGG

So true. The outcry over this is so stupid. Why people can’t just take it for what he meant is indicative of how everyone is on a high horse. Bibi is not excusing Hitler in any way. He’s pointing out the evil of the Grand Mufti. And he was very evil.

    Re: Maurice Ostroff’s Letter

    Ostroff is entirely accurate.

Palestinian attempts to kill Jews since the 1920s are nothing but old news, and the Mufti’s presence in Berlin during WWII where he raised a division of Bosnian Muslims to fight for Hitler is well documented. His attempts to bring the German killing machine to the Middle East to exterminate more Jews are also well known.

Netanyahu is not far off the mark with his comments so Mrs. Merkel would be better served, as would Germany, in admitting all the facts surrounding the Mufti and the Palestinians instead of insulting Israel’s Prime Minister as well as those of us with some knowledge of the subject.
