Israel Air Force Simulates Fighter Pilot Free-Fall Scenario (VIDEO)
by David Daoud
The Israel Air Force released video footage on Thursday of a simulated scenario in which a fighter pilot loses control of his jet, takes a sharp nosedive and finally rectifies the situation, Israeli site nrg reported.
It is a scenario that could easily occur during combat, one IAF officer explained, but the important thing is learning how to handle it.
The officer said that such an exercise is not out of the ordinary for the IAF, which conducts thousands of simulations each year. “We test everything that flies, takes off or is launched into the air, to understand exactly how it works and provide solutions and professional recommendations,” he said.
This week, elite IAF units simulated combat on the country’s border. According to an officer who took part in the exercise — dubbed “Day and Night” — it was the second of its kind this year. It trained for a scenario in which Israeli jets have to provide air cover for ground forces during an incursion into Lebanon and other special operations.
