‘Fast and Furious’ Israeli Parrot Maneuvers Owner’s Car Through Rush-Hour Traffic (VIDEO)
by Shiryn Ghermezian
A video making the rounds on the Internet shows a parrot “maneuvering” a car through rush-hour traffic in Israel, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
The 45-second clip shows Lili, a black-headed caique, clinging to her owner’s steering wheel as he makes one sharp turn after the next. The three-year-old parrot, who’s “got a thing for the fast and furious,” never loses her grip on the steering wheel, even when the driver reaches out a hand for her to grab.
The video was filmed by Lili’s owner, Dafna Ben Nun, a wildlife photographer who lives in Tel Aviv with her husband, Udi. Dafna said the steering wheel antics take place on a daily basis.
Lili used to be happy standing on Dafna or Udi’s head or shoulders during vehicular outings. But one day she tried our riding the steering wheel, and enjoyed it so much that she now insists on assuming the same position every time she is in the car.
Dafna clarified that she only allows Lili to ride upfront when they are driving in the vicinity of their home.
