JNS.org –  Israel’s Government Press Office went public with a complaint against Time Magazine Thursday, five months after the magazine published an article referring to a terrorist as a “graphic designer … killed by Israeli security forces,” with no mention of the people he murdered and injured.

Terrorist Baha Aliyan was shot by Israeli security forces after he and another Palestinian, Balal Abu-Janem, boarded the Route 78 bus in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem and launched a joint shooting and stabbing attack that killed three men — Alon Govberg, 51, Haim Haviv, 78, and Richard Lakin, 76 — and wounded 17 others.

On Oct. 15, Time‘s Rebecca Collard wrote: “On Tuesday, Allyan [sic], a graphic designer from the predominantly Palestinian neighborhood Jabel Mukaber, was killed by Israeli security forces after allegedly trying to carry out an attack in Jerusalem.”

Algemeiner Editor-in-Chief: China Should Stay Out of Peacemaking, Focus on Business Ties With Israel

While Chinese President Xi Jinping called for a two-state solution “as soon as possible” during his meeting in Beijing this...

In an article published on its website Thursday, the GPO wrote: “To our sorrow, repeated requests to Time Magazine, initially by an Israeli NGO and subsequently by the GPO, have all failed to induce Time to correct the serious factual error in the Oct. 15 article.

“An Israeli NGO first approached Time Magazine correspondent Rebecca Collard on Oct. 18 and received no response. The Government Press Office contacted Collard on Feb. 25, presented the facts and demanded a correction. Neither recognition nor correction of the erroneous article resulted.

“When contacted again, Time Magazine correspondent Collard wrote to the GPO on March 4: ‘I’ve forwarded your concerns to my editors.'”

Why did the GPO wait four months to demand a correction?
Not very effective way of combating of bad news reporting. Why do they rely on NGOs to do their job?

  • Laura Burkhart

My sincerest, deep, heartfelt, apologies for the criminal, insensitive & lying journalism of time, which we will not even give honor to that name.
Our world is wrongfully, globally anti-Semitic, and it is only a clear sign of the dangerous times we live.
When I volunteered in Israel, for two years, my own Sacramento’s newspaper, would not publish my story.
So pro-Palestinian, many in the USA…and really, endorsed by our Government. Shame on America. Shame on all those who call evil good, and good, evil! Bless Israel…and be blessed.

We know now what “graphic designer” is TIME-speak means.

    Page http://content.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1736412,00.html says:

TIME hired some of the world’s best graphic designers to compose a cover for its annual list of the most influential people in the world.

    So, whom exactly TIME hired?

  • ted weiss

its amazing how the leftist betraying movement is not protesting this but is protesting Trump ? On which side are they one ?

  • Myron Slater

It is reprehensible that a respectable news magazine, such as Time, can’t take responsibility for antisemitic information as presented in this article. Why is it that the editors of these news organizations, cannot see the ramifications of printing such misleading articles?

  • Laurie Sapir

A “complaint” five months later?? Very impressive! We can see why Israel has been so successful fighting media slander.

  • Paul

    Here is the dishonesty:
Three victims were killed, and so was the perpetrator.
So the correspondent states that the attacker WAS killed, but the only for TRYING to attack the victims. Did he really only TRY ? No mention of three victims killed, only an attempt to attack them ?
Journalists were once expected to have a modicum of objectivity – at least in reporting the actual FACTS.This journalist is a disgrace to her profession.

It appears that Time magazine has now joined forces with Radical Islam in the propaganda of lies and deceit. Time can say whatever they want to say, as they can do so under the freedom of speech granted to them by the USA Constitution, but that does not mean that freedom loving people need buy their dirty magazine.

  • Isaac Brajtman

Well I suppose if that is the way Time writes, why should one believe anything in the magazine, and this should be broadcast to the public with a big heading ” Be care about what you read / understand in Time Magazine. The facts are often very distorted”. Let them then dare sue you.

  • stevenl

Many of these mass media need to publish garbage to attract attention.

  • Leon Rozenbaum

Seems like good enough reason to cancel Ms Collard’s credentials. It’s incredible that it took so long for Press Office to react. That’ not the way to fight this propaganda war…

  • Carl

So the death of the terrorist is fact, but the three people he killed and 17 wounded are merely an alleged attack? What the heck has happened to honest, objective journalism?!

  • Jack Holan

Obviously Rebecca Collard lacks proof to support her assertions. Yes Marwan 9/11 infamy may have been a ‘student’ or whatever in the time frame of his terrorist activities but once he was at the controls of a passenger jet crashing it into a building with people inside all titles, descriptions other than TERRORIST became Irrelevant, nothing else matter he was only a TERRORIST. The GPO should declare her Persona Non Grata indefinitely and she try this schtick in Egypt where upon they will throw her in a cell and throw away the key.

  • Mickey Oberman

Could it be that Time is still being published thanks to the generosity of Saudi Arabia and/or its friends?

  • brian ellman

All Jews and any one else who believes in fair reporting should cancel their subscriptions to Time magazine
Such biased reporting is part of the anti Israel(anti-Semitic)culture propagated by the left leaning liberals who believe the Democratic party is the same as their parents party—they are wrong

  • barry

What else would one expect from Slime magazine?

  • Chris Rettenmoser

    Time is DRECK !

  • Dov

excuse me, isn’t Time magazine the same one that General and Prime Minister Sharon sued? What did you think, they changed their ideas? I have stopped my subscription to Time years ago and its time everyone else does the same.

  • ALAN

time is a magazine for the time to go to the throne and use it as toilet paper…

  • ART

Cancel his accreditation. His report and its bias is intentional he meant to harm Israel

  • Rachel Cohen

There are NO palestinians–they are Arab Muslim terrorists. And Time Magazine–is a Marxist globalist organization, they commonly promote all manner of wickedness including anti-Semitism.
