Shimon Peres’ Condition Deteriorates Rapidly; Doctors Fear Organ Failure

JNS.org – Former president and prime minister of Israel Shimon Peres’ condition worsened on Monday, following two weeks of hospitalization for a major stroke.
Doctors at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv said his condition is deteriorating and “extremely serious.” His breathing and kidney functioning have dropped which could lead to multiple organ failure.
“The president is fighting for his life,” an anonymous source close to Peres told AFP. Doctors have urged close relatives to say their final goodbyes to him, Israel’s Channel 10 reported.
Peres, who is 93, suffered a major stroke on Sept. 13 following a pacemaker implant procedure a week before.
