Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton may have stolen the show at Thursday night’s Al Smith Dinner in New York City with the bitter zingers they flung at each other, but the event did not pass without a moment of Jewish-related humor as well.
In remarks made before the candidates spoke, Alfred Smith IV, host of the annual elite gathering at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel to raise money for Catholic charities that help children in need, joked, “Everyone in attendance is doing their part in supporting our charitable efforts. It couldn’t be done without you or without the amazing support of the many devoted Catholics on stage — you know, Catholics like Henry Kissinger, Howard Rubenstein, Mort Zuckerman.”
Former Secretary of State Kissinger, PR guru Rubenstein and real estate magnate and media mogul Zuckerman are all Jewish.
