JNS.org – Israel’s minister of science, technology and space met Tuesday with his Indian counterpart to sign a scientific collaboration agreement between the countries.
Ofir Akunis, on a state visit to New Delhi, and Harsh Vardhan agreed for each nation to appropriate $1 million for joint research ventures in 2017, as well as for the countries to work on promoting joint projects by young scientists and empowering women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Vardhan said India has much to learn from Israel, which he called “a relatively small country with significant capabilities.”
“We are expanding our cooperation in many fields,” Akunis said at the signing ceremony.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin visited India in November to boost the growing ties between the countries.
