JNS.org – It was particularly painful and frustrating seeing President Barack Hussein Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power team up on an antisemitic knifing of Israel in the back at the UN — particularly because so few people listened during the months when my organization, the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), issued press releases, held press conferences, spoke on TV and radio and published full-page ads in the New York Times and other newspapers warning that Obama would betray Israel at the UN after the 2016 election. (See ZOA’s Oct. 29 New York Times ad, entitled “After Elections, Will Obama Betray Israel at the U.N.?”)

ZOA pleaded with other Jewish organizations and leaders, and with US senators, to join our campaign to stop Obama from doing grave damage to Israel at the UN. But those groups and leaders responded, “Don’t be silly; Obama will never do this.”

I have been unable to sleep, thinking about how a relentless united Jewish front may have stopped Obama, may have smoked him out to expose his position early on. We might not be stuck today trying to unravel a vicious resolution that promotes ethnically cleansing the Jewish people from our millennia-old homeland, indefensible 1949 armistice lines that had no legal basis and antisemitic legal actions and boycotts.

If only the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and similar groups had not refused to support the legal, political, historic and religious right of Jews to live in the Jewish homeland in Judea and Samaria, as well as east Jerusalem. Some groups openly opposed this right, sending a message to Obama and the world that Jews were divided on this critical issue.

World Media Silent as Mahmoud Abbas — Israel’s ‘Peace Partner’ — Undermines Talks

Just how bad is the media bias against Israel? In a week filled with extensive coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- much...

ZOA’s ads cited flashing warning signs that Obama was plotting to pass an anti-Israel, antisemitic resolution. Obama’s US State Department began “strongly condemning” Israel for building a few apartments and threatened to “reconsider” US policy at the UN. Obama’s “echo chamber” at the New York Times and like-minded media simultaneously published virtually identical condemnations and demands for UN actions. The White House crossed out the word “Israel” from a reference to late statesman Shimon Peres’s burial location in Jerusalem. In his Peres eulogy, Obama falsely accused Israel of enslaving Palestinians. A WikiLeaks document revealed the Obama administration’s plan for “consequences” against Israel’s refusal to freeze construction.

ZOA also predicted eight years ago that Obama would be the “worst president for Israel ever.”  During his first presidential campaign, Obama told the New York Times on May 16, 2008, that “Hamas and Hezbollah…have legitimate claims.” Obama worshiped for 22 years at the antisemitic church where Reverend Jeremiah Wright — whom Obama called a great man and mentor — shouted “God damn America” and “God damn Israel.” Obama befriended the virulently anti-Israel and antisemitic Louis Farrakhan, Edward Said, Rashid Khalidi and Electronic Intifada founder Ali Abunimah, as well as the radical Bill Ayers.

Obama’s first act as President-elect was threatening Israel to stop defending itself from Hamas rockets in Gaza. It was not coincidental that Israel prematurely ended its efforts to wipe out Hamas’s rocket arsenals the day before Obama was sworn into office in January 2009.

During his 2009 Cairo speech, Obama falsely likened Israel’s treatment of Palestinian Arabs to the Nazis’ treatment of Jews.

During Hamas’s latest war against Israel in 2014, Obama sent Hamas-ruled Gaza $47 million, urged Israel to accept an early cease-fire with pro-Hamas terms, refused to send critical arms to Israel for days and unnecessarily briefly stopped American commercial flights to Israel. He also reduced funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, only to have Congress reinstate it.

When the Palestinian Authority (PA) formed a unity government with Hamas, whose charter calls for Israel’s destruction and murdering every Jew, Obama proclaimed he would continue funding the PA.

Obama pushed through the catastrophic Iran nuclear deal, giving a regime bent on Israel’s and America’s annihilation $150 billion in sanctions relief and a path to a nuclear bomb. Additionally, he released hundreds of Islamist terrorists from Guantanamo Bay, one-third of whom have returned to terrorism actions.

But Obama was not satisfied with giving Iran the means to destroy Israel. Obama’s ingrained antisemitism is so deep that he also apparently needed to drive another knife into Israel’s back last week.

After the fact, many Jewish groups and leaders joined with ZOA, bipartisan Congress members and others to condemn the horrendous UN Security Council resolution.

But we must do more now.

It’s time to unite to support real action — such as the proposal by US Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) to eliminate funding to the UN and PA until Resolution 2334 is reversed.

It’s time for AIPAC and other Jewish groups to proclaim that Jerusalem is not negotiable, and that Jews have the right to live in our homeland in eastern Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria. It’s time to join ZOA in explaining that Jerusalem is mentioned 700 times in the Torah — but never in the Koran — and is not holy to Muslims.

It’s time for AIPAC and others to stop promoting a Palestinian state (the so-called “two-state solution”), and to join us in explaining that experience, polling and Palestinian-Arab leaders’ own statements demonstrate that this “solution” would be a Hamas-Iran-PLO terrorist state that seeks to obliterate Israel.

It’s time for Hadassah and the Conservative movement, and others, to end their campaigns against incoming White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and to instead condemn antisemites such as Keith Ellison.

It’s time for Jewish groups to appreciate our friends who tried to stop the horrendous Security Council resolution, including President-elect Donald Trump, together with his great nominee for US ambassador to Israel David Friedman and Bannon.

And it’s time for us to all work together with the pro-Israel incoming Trump administration to repair the damage that Obama, Kerry and Power have wrought.

  • Facts Arab-Palestinians Would Rather Not Admit About Israel
In doing my research and writing various articles about the Arab-Israeli Conflict I was asked some pointed questions about my conclusions in some of my recent articles, which dealt – as most of them do – with the history of Israel: biblical, post-biblical and international laws and treaties.
I had stated in one of my articles the following sentence: “Only one people has ever made Jerusalem its capital and only one people ever established their ancestral indigenous and biblical homeland between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea: the Jews.”
I had also added that: “the Jews were the remaining aboriginal indigenous inhabitants of the Land for two millennia before the Muslim religion was even created.”
The commenter, nevertheless, had correctly pointed out that most people, because they have been exposed for such a long time to anti-Israel Arab propaganda, falsely believe that there has not been a continuous Jewish presence in the Land of Israel for the last 2,000 years. Many also have the misconception that the UN created the State of Israel; this is a farce.
The land of Israel has been in existence for over 3700 years. The Modern reconstituted State of Israel was decreed by post WWI international law and treaties which were executed by the Supreme Allied Powers which allocated the formerly occupied territory by the defeated Ottoman Empire. In said allocation, the S.A.P. specified Mesopotamia, Syria and other territories to the Arabs; in all the Arab/Muslims received over 12 million sq. km. of territory with a wealth of oil reserves; and allocated all of Palestine, the historical ancestral land of the Israelites to the Jewish people as their reconstituted homeland.
They are thus unaware that the historical territory of the land of Israel, that was never totally cleansed of Jewish presence. Thus, the Arabs would rather you forget also that Jews lived for two millennia in Mesopotamia and in what became later known as British created Iraq.
Indeed, Jews have resided for over 3,200 years in that territory from the Babylonian Captivity of 586 CE onwards. Jewish communities and towns were established in Aleppo and Yemen during the Days of King David. It was when International treaties executed by the Allied Supreme Powers in 1920, which incorporated the Balfour Declaration as international law and the 1919 Faisal Weizmann Agreement, that the number of Jews in Palestine-Israel became substantial enough to merit the subsequent implementation of those international treaties and guarantees.
Furthermore, due to the abrogation of its duty and the sudden departure of Britain in 1948, and thus, the desertion of its commitment to implement the Mandate for Palestine, (as agreed by post WWI international law and treaties and help bring about the sovereign Jewish Homeland in Palestine), the Jewish leadership declared independence and Israel sovereignty was re-established in 1948. It cannot be ignored that the UN resolution to advance the sovereignty of the Jewish state was only carrying out some of the terms of the international treaties.
The post WWI League of Nations and the post WWII United Nations that took over from the League have no authority to create or modify international treaties.
The UN according to its charter can only recommend its resolutions and the same applies to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), they are only advisory. As such, those recommendations must be adopted by the parties, and if any of the parties rejects the resolution, it has no affect or validity. Such is the factual case of the Arab Israeli Conflict. The Arabs rejected outright the UN resolutions that could have altered the conflict to a peaceful coexistence.
After the Declaration of independence and sovereignty of the Jewish state and the independence of Iraqi, the Arab countries terrorized and drove the Jews from their ancient homes of over 2,700 years and confiscating all their assets, including: personal property, businesses, homes and over 120,000 sq. km. of Jewish owned Real Estate for over 2,400 years (these confiscated Jewish assets are valued in the trillions of dollars). Furthermore, one Arab state after another in the Middle East and North Africa also persecuted and drove out their Jewish populations, which had resided in those countries for over two millennia. Said persecutors also confiscated all their assets turning them into refugees who found sanctuary in Israel, at that time a fledging impoverished country barely able to support them at the time. Such a great number of Jewish refugees were created that they outnumbered the Arab refugees by a ratio of 2 to 1. It cannot be ignored that such unwarranted persecution and unlawful confiscation of assets is a crime which is never talked about or addressed.
Arab-Palestinians and their anti-Israel supporters try to deceive and convince the world that the Jews just appeared in the early 20th century after being dispersed for over two thousand years from their biblical ancestral homeland. Such deception is a flat out lie and flies in the face of factual recorded history. But facts never seem to matter to Arabs and pro-Arabs. So the following brief history lesson will be for them an inconvenient truth.
Let me start by quoting from an article written in The Weekly Standard, May 11, 1998 by Charles Krauthammer:
“Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the only nation on earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language, and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago. You dig the soil and you find pottery from Davidic times, coins from Bar Kochvah, and 2,000-year-old scrolls written in a script remarkably like the one today advertising ice cream at the corner candy store.”
The Jewish People trace their origin to Abraham, who is called the Holy Convert, the first Jew, who established the belief in only one God, the creator of the universe. Abraham, his son Yitzhak (Isaac), and grandson Jacob (Israel), are referred to as the patriarchs of the Israelites who lived in what was then the Land of Canaan which today does exist; and which later become known as the Land of Israel. They and their wives are buried in the Ma’arat HaMachpela, the Tomb of the Patriarchs, in Hebron, Judaism’s second holiest city. (Genesis Chapter 23).

  • The “neo-libs” in the Obama administration crafted the most incoherent foreign policy initiatives ever conceived by the State Department. The moronic two-state solution didn’t work in 1947 and won’t work in 2017. The PLO is only concerned with one state that replaces Israel. And Israel is not going anywhere.

    Build Bibi, build!

  • I’ve been telling you that Obama’s prime directive in running for President was to destroy Israel while helping the Muslim Brotherhood to overthrow moderate Muslim leaders and replace them with Muslim Brotherhood hardliners.

Obama is the tip of the Brotherhood’s spear for taking over America from within. If this act doesn’t convince the mainstream midgets who insist he’s a Christian that he’s more of a Muslim than any of the 19 9/11 hijackers ever were.

He was born as a Muslim, educated as a Muslim and trained like a Muslim with all the hatred for Jews, Israel and democracy that being one entails.

I hope and pray that Obama’s true identity and his mission to sabotage America will be known to the public, once and for all so that it never happens again.

Liberal Jews very happily brought this on themselves and the Jewish people. Many don’t even care. For them, Israel threatens “their way of life”.

  • zvi gross

Excellent article. Agree with your call for action. Lets unite to fight this Fascist, ethnic cleansing UN resolution

  • Joseph Feld

When so many American Jews help elect and re-elect Obama, when there are so many loony Left Jews who are anti-Israel , why are we surprised that Obama has been so mixed in his support of Israel? In the higher world what are we doing that is causing such hostility to Eretz Israel? Could it be the sinas chinom (unjustified hatred) that leads to fights over who should pray where in Jerusalem, at the Western Wall? After agreeing to create a section of the Kotel for WoW and other non-traditional groups, progress is halted. Is it a sort of sinas chinom when rabbis invalidate each other’s conversions from one rabbi and one day to the next? Are there more evil decrees to be revealed by Obama in the last month of his administration? Should we intensify the Fast of the 10th of Teves, 8th January, and focus on achdus and ahavas Yisrael (unity and love of Israel).

    • What we are doing is failing to stop the descendants of Ishmael, Esau and Amalek from destroying Israel and the Jewish people. The fact of the matter is that 3/4 of American Jews are also liberals as well as being self-loathing (or self-deprecating) Jews.

It’s their liberal mindset that inhibits them from recognizing what it means to be Jewish. They are also unable to see the Evil that exists in the hearts of like-minded liberals. They have been brainwashed into rejecting all the ways that Israel and the Jewish people have benefitted not only their lives and but also the lives of all people.

They refuse to believe that Western society would not be here today if the Jews snd their ideas had never existed. Likewise, if the Jewish people were to cease to exist today (God forbid) so, too, will the world that they know cease to exist.

Liberalism is a mental disorder and that diagnosis goes a long eay towards explaining how Jews could support such a blatant anti-Semite as Obama. Today’s liberal Jews are like the Hebrews who stayed behind in Egypt rather than be liberated and have to face the harsh realities of the outside world.

In studying Jewish history and Jewish tradition, we find out that more than 2/3 of all the Hebrews living in Egypt at the time of the Exodus refused to leave their homes and go to to the Land that God had promised them.

This rebellion sounds a lot like the large majority of US Jews who chose to cover their eyes and ears and vote for an African-American Pharoah who succeeded in hiding his hatred for them and for Israeli.

Two days out in the desert, the 1/3 of Egyptian Jews who went on the Exodus started complaining to Moses that they had no olives or dates to eat. Thus, the Jews of the 15th Century BCE ere very much like the Jews of the 21st Century CE in how they chose the wrong set of priorities and how they kept Hashem out of the equation.

What became of the 2/3rds who rejected God’s Promise of liberation from bondage and had stayed in Egypt?

God simply snuffed out their souls – which is the same fate awaiting those who are sent to Purgatory for purification. While on Earth, they had allowed Evil to enter their hearts, control their minds and to perform acts and exhibit behaviors that were reprehensible to God and antithetical to the Torah.

God may choose to give them another chance but only after their tainted souls have been purged of Evil. If, after a year’s time in Purgatory, there are any people who have failed to repent for their sins, their sould will also be snuffed out.

There is no Hell in Jewish theology and if there was, it would not be a place for eternal damnation. Thus, there are only two destinations possible for the recently deceased: Heaven or Purgatory.

However, in the case of really Evil people, especially those like Amalek, Haman and Hitler who sought to annihilate Jews, their souls were snuffed out with their last breath.

    • Unity above all

“We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers”

We must learn to respect each other no matter what the religious affiliation or secular. We are all Jews, one people and one nation.
We must look ahead and learn from past mistakes and not dwell on them and look for blame. We must be unified and with a cohesive effort, we will find a solution.
The one thing that is common to all of solutions is that they required — or at least relied on — the other party’s good will. But in the absence of such a will, every agreement you attempt to implement is doomed before it has even started. Therefore, we must look not at the agreements we can or can’t achieve with our neighbors, but rather look at the agreements that we can achieve with ourselves!
Our motto should be something like, “When the going gets tough, the good get going,” because this is all we need to do — lend a friendly hand to one another, no questions asked. As we have been told a million times before, this unity will unleash all the powers we need in order to resolve our problems: social, economic, and political — both internally and internationally.

Indeed we should focus on Achdut ve Ahavat Yisroel. I have long followed Mort Klein who has been consistently telling American Jews the clear truth for eight long hard years under an Obamination of an administration. But now you must destroy your internal enemies first, like J Street and get rid of Greenblat at the ADL who doesn’t even respect or understand the meaning of Anti Defamation of Jews in all of its many manifestations.
