The cover of the UK’s Jewish News on Thursday.
The UK’s Jewish News took aim with sarcasm at Al Jazeera on Thursday in response to the Qatari-owned news channel’s undercover “exposé” of the Israeli Embassy in London’s activities.
“No $#!£ Sherlock!” the top headline of the Jewish News blared.
“Six-month Al Jazeera sting on Israeli embassy reveals these bombshells,” the subhead said. “Surprise! Israel has friends in the UK; Shock! Embassy promotes Israel; Horror! Jewish students don’t like anti-Zionist NUS president.”
In an editorial published on Thursday, the Jewish News said of Al Jazeera’s “The Lobby” series, “As revelations go, it’s hardly Watergate.”
“If the channel’s grubby little exercise was meant to scare those at the forefront of combating the pernicious BDS movement or force them into retreat, there’s little sign of that,” the Jewish News went on to say.
