Netanyahu in Meeting With Famed Movie Star Chuck Norris: ‘Israel Is Strong, But It’s Indestructible Now’
by Shiryn Ghermezian
“Israel is strong, but it’s indestructible now,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quipped in a meeting with visiting American movie star Chuck Norris — an avid martial artist — on Wednesday in Jerusalem.
Footage of the friendly exchange — which included the Israeli leader joking with his security detail that, with Norris around, they could take the day off — was posted on Netanyahu’s Facebook page.
Norris, who is visiting Israel with his wife, Gena O’Kelley, told Netanyahu, “You will always have my support.”
Norris, a long-time fan of the Israeli premier’s, went as far as to endorse him in a video — “Please Vote For Prime Minister Netanyahu” — ahead of the 2015 elections, in which he said, in part: “I watched Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech before Congress, and I saw a man who loves his country with all his heart and soul. I also saw a strong leader that is absolutely crucial for the safety of the Israeli people… I have done three movies in Israel – ‘Delta Force’ being my favorite – and I formed many friendships while there. You have an incredible country, and we want to keep it that way.”
