JNS.org – Alon Day will become the first Israeli to race in NASCAR’s Cup Series, when he competes at California’s Sonoma Raceway on June 25.

He will be driving No. 23 Toyota Camry for BK Racing.

“Being the first Israeli who is going to race in NASCAR’s highest series is a dream come true,” Day said in a statement.

Last week, Day won a tough competition in the NASCAR Whelen Euro race in England.

The 26-year-old Tel Aviv native has competed in a European division of NASCAR for several years, and has also raced in several US Xfinity Series League events. He has won eight NASCAR Europe victories in the past three years and was voted the most popular driver twice. Day also won the 2009 Asian Formula Renault Series and FIA GT Championship.

In 2016, Day was recognized for his accomplishments and named Athlete of the Year in Israel.
