Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hosted a trio of top Trump administration officials — including the president’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner — for a meeting at his office in Jerusalem on Wednesday.
As he greeted his guests — who also included President Donald Trump’s international negotiations representative Jason Greenblatt and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Netanyahu said, “This is an opportunity to pursue our common goals of security, prosperity and peace.”
Kushner replied, “The president sends his best regards and it’s an honor to be here with you.”
According to the White House, Kushner and Greenblatt are currently in the Middle East to “continue conversations and hear directly from” Israeli and Palestinian leaders “about their priorities and potential next steps” in the peace process.
“President Trump has made it clear that working towards achieving a lasting peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians is a top priority for him,” a White House official said this week. “He strongly believes that peace is possible.”
