Israeli ‘Wonder Woman’ Star Gal Gadot Is Among Newest Members of Academy of Motion Pictures

Israeli actress and “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot is one of the newest members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The academy announced on Wednesday it had invited a record 744 new members from 57 countries to join its body, which issued only 683 invitations in 2016. The new class is composed of 39 percent women and 30 percent people of color. The academy has over 7,000 members, according to its website.
Other invitees include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Wanda Sykes, Betty White, Debbie Allen, Priyanka Chopra, Naomie Harris, Rebel Wilson, Barry Jenkins, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ruth Negga, Zoe Kravitz, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth.
