Pop Rock Band HAIM Releases Hanukkah Holiday Song About Latkas, Manischewitz Wine and the Maccabees
by Shiryn Ghermezian
Popular American pop rock band HAIM celebrated the first night of Hanukkah on Tuesday with a new song that pays homage to the Festival of Lights.
The trio of Jewish sisters uploaded a video onto Twitter that shows Este Haim playing a bass guitar and singing in the new track, “Shred me like a potato latke/ You be the Manischewitz/ And I’ll be the vodka/ Like a page out of the Torah/ You light me up like I’m a menorah.” She also sings about “courageous Maccabees” and spinning dreidels, before her sisters and fellow band members, Danielle and Alana Haim, join in with a “Light me up like I’m a menorah” refrain.
The band posted the video along with the message “First night of Haimukkah. Sandler, we’re coming for you,” referencing Adam Sandler and his famous “Hanukkah Song.”
