JNS.org – An Israeli Air Force drone crashed Friday night in southern Lebanon in an open field. According the Israel Defense Forces, the unmanned drone, which was collecting intelligence at the time, crashed due to technical failure.

An IDF spokesperson said in a statement that “the incident is currently being reviewed. There is no risk of leaked information.”

Lebanon’s Al-Manar TV station was the first to report the crash between the villages of Barashit and Beit Yahoun.

Hezbollah claims that the drone was a Hermes 450, made by the Israeli firm Elbit Systems. The Hermes 450 is known to be one of Israel’s largest and most sophisticated drones with a wingspan of more than 34 feet and a maximum speed of 100-plus miles per hour.
