A trailer for the upcoming thriller “Operation Finale” debuted on Tuesday, telling the story of the Mossad’s 1960 hunt for and successful capture of Nazi leader Adolf Eichmann in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“Fauda” star and co-creator Lior Raz portrays then-Mossad director Isser Harel in the film and fellow Israeli actor Ohad Knoller, from the Oscar-nominated film “Munich,” plays Mossad agent Ephraim Ilani. American actor Michael Aronov, who previously portrayed Israeli negotiator Uri Savir in the Broadway play “Oslo,” plays Mossad agent Zvi Aharoni.

Oscar winner Ben Kingsley plays Eichmann, Adolf Hitler’s lieutenant who organized the transport of Jews to Nazi concentration camps across Europe during World War II. After the war, Eichmann moved back to his native country of Austria for a short time and then fled to Buenos Aires, where he was discovered by Israel’s intelligence agency.

The trailer begins with Kingsley’s Eichmann defending his role in the murder of Jews, saying, “My job was simple: Save the country I loved from being destroyed. Is your job any different?”

Actor Oscar Isaac takes on the role of Peter Malkin, the Mossad agent who orchestrated the mission to take down the Holocaust mastermind. A voice in the trailer tells Malkin about his mission to capture Eichmann, “If you succeed, for the first time in our history, we will judge our executioner, and we will ward off any who may wish to follow his example. If you fail, he escapes justice, perhaps forever. I beg of you, do not fail.”

Filming took place last fall in Argentina. The film was directed by Chris Weitz. The trailer says the film will hit theaters this fall.
