JNS.org – A 28-year-old man from an Arab town near Hebron was arrested on Saturday when police discovered he was armed with a knife and meat cleaver near the Jewish community of Beit El in southern Samaria.
The man was stopped by traffic police near the community when they saw him acting suspiciously. A search of his vehicle uncovered the weapons. He told police that he planned on carrying out an attack on Jews, according to police.
Earlier Saturday, border police arrested an Arab man who attempted to clear security checks while carrying a knife at the checkpoint separating the Shuafat refugee camp from northern Jerusalem.
While Shin Bet security services reported a 40 percent drop in terror attacks in June, there were still 220 attacks reported across the country.
