JNS.org – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned UN Secretary General António Guterres on Wednesday about the terrorist group Hezbollah digging underground tunnels to infiltrate and attack Israel, according to the prime minister’s office.

Netanyahu told Guterres that Hezbollah’s actions violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which condemns Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy.

The former called on the latter, along with the world community, to condemn the terrorist entity.

The development comes as Israel launched “Operation Northern Shield” to destroy tunnels built to infiltrate Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces could not wait to deal with them should “a war were to break out,” a senior IDF officer told reporters near a tunnel on the Lebanon-Israel border that the IDF destroyed.
