Following the desecration of dozens of graves at a Jewish cemetery near the eastern French city of Strasbourg on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged European leaders to “take a strong stand against anti-Semitism.”
“Today something shocking happened in France,” Netanyahu stated. “Eighty Jewish graves were desecrated with Nazi symbols by wild antisemites.”
Antisemitism, the Israeli leader went on to say, is “a plague that endangers everyone, not just us, and it must be condemned wherever and whenever it rears its head.”

Netanyahu spoke just as a march against antisemitism was getting underway in Paris.
Figures published by the France’s Interior Ministry last week showed there was a 74 percent increase in the number of attacks on Jews in the country last year.
