Some 1,200 students were evacuated on Thursday from a southern Jerusalem school due to flooding across an access road.

The students left the school in groups and traveled in Jeeps due to officials saying it was unsafe for buses to be on campus.

No students were injured. All affected were cared for by police officers and teachers.

However, some of the Jeeps were “caught in the floodwaters, requiring special rescues,” reported The Times of Israel.

More than 5 inches of rainfall hit the Israeli capital, which having so much stone and non-porous materials prevents absorption.
