JNS.org – A number of music and drag performers who identify as LGBTQ will skip this year’s Eurovision song contest in Israel and instead be part of an alternative online broadcast, exemplifying and in support of the anti-Israel BDS movement.

The broadcast, called “Globalvision,” will stream at the same time as the Eurovision finals in Tel Aviv on May 18 and broadcast shows from numerous countries, in addition to music videos.

Entertainers include queer Palestinian pop-artist Bashar Murad, Palestinian drag performer Elias Wakeem and London-based drag performer Ray Filar.

The contradiction is that these artists can freely perform in Israel and not in Arab countries, where they would almost surely be persecuted over their identity and performances.

“Globalvision is a once-in-a-lifetime online broadcast, combining live streams from gigs on the night of Eurovision 2019 with music videos and messages from artists around the world,” stated the group, reported PinkNews.

In related news, an open letter has circulated by BDS groups and Irish LGBTQ activists to pressure the country’s Eurovision contestant Sarah McTernan to boycott the contest, which begins on May 14.
