Official Palestinian Authority (PA) television has claimed images of victims of the Holocaust show Arabs killed by Jews.
According to the Palestinian Media Watch monitoring group, the images were broadcast on April 9, 2019. One showed the bodies of victims at the concentration camp of Nordhausen, taken on April 17, 1945, by the US Army.
PA television claimed that the image showed victims of a massacre in the village of Deir Yassin in 1948. The battle for the village near Jerusalem during Israel’s War of Independence between Arab and Jewish militias saw large numbers of civilian casualties, and the Palestinians have long portrayed it as a deliberate massacre.
A second image also claimed to be from Deir Yassin in fact showed the bodies of Holocaust victims from an unknown concentration camp, easily identified by their striped uniforms.
Itamar Marcus, director of PMW, said of the images, “Presenting Holocaust victims as Arab victims of Israel is recurring practice of official PA TV. … The Palestinian Authority has no respect for history, and regularly falsifies history in order to promote their political agendas.”
“While the PA’s presenting of Holocaust pictures as if they were Arabs killed by Jews is horrific, it is unfortunately not surprising,” he added.
