‘My Heart is Aching’: Gal Gadot, Madonna, Other Celebrities Show Support for Israel Amid Hamas War
by Shiryn Ghermezian
A number of celebrities have taken to social media to voice their support for Israel and its victims terrorized by Hamas terrorists who launched a surprise attack against the Jewish state on Saturday morning.
Following Hamas’ assault, at least 800 Israelis have been murdered and thousands wounded. Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk also said in a statement to the al-Ghad news outlet on Sunday that the terrorist organization is holding over 100 Israeli citizens and soldiers hostage.
In response, Israeli actress and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is asking people to donate to a fund for the Israeli victims and wrote in separate Instagram posts, “My heart is aching. Praying for all of those in pain. I stand with Israel you should too. The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!”
“Whoever can, and willing to donate, these peoples lives changed forever yesterday,” she added. “They’ve lost so much and need help. Only if you can.”
Actress Natalie Portman condemned the “barbaric” actions of Hamas against Israeli civilians, while Isla Fisher and her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, both shared on Instagram a photo of an Israeli family kidnapped by Hamas. Fisher wrote in the caption, “There is no excuse for the deliberate killing and kidnapping of innocent civilians anytime anywhere ever.” Meanwhile, Madonna said “conflicts can never be resolved with violence.”
“My heart goes out to Israel,” the music icon added. “To Families and Homes that have been destroyed. To children who are lost. To Innocent Victims who have Been Killed. To All who are Suffering or who will suffer from this conflict. Im Praying For you. I am aware that this is the work of Hamas and there are many innocent people in Palestine who do not support this terrorist organization. This Tragic attack will only cause more suffering for everyone. Let us all Pray. For Israel. For Peace. For The World [sic].”

On social media, Frozen actor Josh Gad expressed sorrow for those murdered in Israel. “I have no words. I am praying for my many family members in Israel. What a cowardly act,” he wrote. “What we are witnessing in real time right now is unprecedented since the Yom Kippur War. My heart breaks for the families of those who have lost loved ones, and for the hostages who have been taken. What a horrific day.”
