Israel supporters came out to show their support for the Jewish state at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday night as the Israeli basketball team Maccabi Ra’anana played against the Brooklyn Nets in a preseason game taking place as Israel is at war with the Hamas terrorist organization.

Throughout the game, fans in the stadium waved Israeli flags, chanted “Israel,” sang Hebrew language songs, and held signs that said “I Stand With Israel” as well as “New York Stands With Israel.” Some fans also wore garments in support of the Israel Defense Forces.

Before the start of the game, Israeli pop singer Noa Kirel — who is from the city of Ra’anana — sang Israel’s national anthem, Hatikvah, with the country’s flag draped over her shoulders. She concluded the song by saying “Am Israel Chai,” which means “long live Israel.”

There was a moment of silence in memory of the Israeli victims killed in Hamas terror attacks that began almost a week ago on Saturday morning. The stadium’s announcer additionally took to the loud speaker inside the arena and announced that the Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center “condemn the terrorist attacks and mourn the senseless loss of life in Israel. We stand together against terror and our thoughts are with all who have been impacted by these tragic events.”

Barclays Center also played a number of Hebrew tracks and in the first quarter featured on the jumbotron a pre-recorded video showing Nets player Cam Johnson trying and reviewing Israeli snacks for the first time ever, including Crembo and falafel-flavored Bissli.

The Nets won 135-103 and at the end of the night, many basketball fans gathered outside the stadium to sing together in solidarity with Israel.

Maccabi Ra’anana’s game on Thursday night kicked off their three-game tour through the United States, which will include games against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday and Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. The team arrived in the US last week, before the start of the Israel-Hamas war that has resulted in more than 1,000 Israeli civilians being killed by the terrorist organization, which has also taken hundreds hostage.
