Following Fatah’s recent Eighth General Conference, top Palestinian Authority (PA) official and Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub called for political unity within the PA.

This is a call for unity between Fatah and Hamas governed by the PLO, with “political pluralism under one national authority, one law, and one weapon.”

For Rajoub, the primary task for such a political unity is to fight Israel:

Let us unite forces [Fatah with Hamas] to help the free people of the world who encircle our enemy [i.e., Israel] and the enemy of humanity – the neo-Nazis who control the occupation state, whose plot is now exposed to all and mired in the swamp of state terror.”

Rajoub has repeatedly called for unity with Hamas, especially since October 7, 2023.

Similarly, speaking at Fatah’s Conference in the name of the Palestinian terrorists, a released terrorist called on the PA leadership to prioritize “national reconciliation” and unity with Hamas to create a joint program against Israel:

Released terrorist prisoner Khairy Salameh: “The role of the prisoners [i.e., terrorists] is a central role in the Fatah Conference, because we have been waiting for a long time for the opportunity to inject new blood into Fatah to revive our Fatah and its organizational and national program. Fatah is the lever of the Palestinian people and the struggles and sacrifices of the prisoners and Martyrs…

The message of the prisoners to our Palestinian leadership and the new leadership is that the main concern and priority should be the issue of national reconciliation [between Fatah and Hamas]… to revive our Fatah and come out with a unified political program that will be able to deal with the upcoming challenges from this occupation government.”

Fatah-Hamas unity is an old dream of PA leaders.

Palestinian Media Watch has documented that PA and Fatah leaders have continuously courted Hamas, especially in times of need in terms of popularity, yet at the same time have cursed the terror organization, when it tries to hurt Hamas’ popularity, as “Satanic.”

The picture below is an example of the PA’s priority of political “unity” between all Palestinian factions, including terror organizations. The photo shows the office of Tulkarem District Governor Abdallah Kmeil, with the following text on the wall:

“National unity is the key to victory”

Combined with the PA map that presents all of Israel as part of “Palestine,” it is clear that the text’s desired “victory” of the united factions is a victory over Israel and Israel’s destruction.
