A Reuters cameraman caught the moments immediately following the shooting death of Sgt. Gal Gabriel Kobi at a checkpoint in Hebron Sunday night.
In his video Kobi can be seen lying on the ground after being hit in the neck by a sniper’s bullet. He is soon surrounded by IDF soldiers amid confusion as to what is going on. Kobi was evacuated by ambulance a short time later to a hospital in Jerusalem, where he was pronounced dead.
Dr. Danny Fink, a heart surgeon at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, was quoted by Israeli Hayom as saying: “[Kobi] was unconscious when he arrived. He was lifeless, with no blood pressure or pulse. He lost consciousness 15 to 20 minutes before he arrived at the hospital. Despite all the efforts, he died from loss of blood.”
Hundreds of people attended Kobi’s funeral Monday afternoon at the Haifa Military Cemetery, while in Hebron the IDF continued its search for the soldier’s killer.
