Yehuda Krinsky
Chairman of Chabad’s central educational organization
Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, chairman of Chabad’s central educational organization and the former secretary to the late Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem M. Schneerson, is one of the public faces of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
In his public role, Krinsky made some forceful statements about the U.S.-backed Iran nuclear agreement. That Chabad is apolitical as a matter of policy made his comments all-the-more powerful.
“The Iran deal is not a political issue,” he stated. “It is a threat to life, a matter of pikuach nefesh [saving a life], and when life is at stake, and in this case I am convinced that it is, we have no right be silent; we are morally, ethically, and halakhically obligated to do everything within our power to prevent danger to our people, even if that means taking a position that is politically or socially inexpedient.”
