The youngest daughter of the murdered Argentine Jewish federal prosecutor Alberto Nisman survived a serious car crash earlier this week, Argentine news outlets disclosed on Thursday.
12-year-old Kala Nisman was riding in traffic through Buenos Aires on Monday when a car sped through a red light, colliding into her vehicle. She was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries and later released.
Kala’s father, Alberto Nisman, was murdered in Jan. 2015 after gathering evidence of collusion between the former Argentine government of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and Iranian leaders to exonerate the Tehran regime for the July 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish center in Buenos Aires. Eighty-five people were killed and more than 300 wounded in the attack, which 25 years later remains as the worst act of terrorism in Argentina’s history.
Nisman’s death — initially misrepresented by Argentine investigators as a suicide — took a heavy toll on his family. Last December, Nisman’s former wife, Argentine federal judge Sandra Arroyo Salgado, withdrew from efforts to discover and prosecute Nisman’s killers, saying she wanted to prioritize family life with her daughters, Kala and elder sister Lara.
Just seven years old when Nisman was murdered, Kala paid a heartfelt tribute to her father at the time.
“Dad, I’m going to miss you a lot, and I love you very much,” she wrote. “I had a great time with you when we went to Disney, Chile, Las Leñas and lots of other places. I will never stop thinking about you and all the nice things things we did like dancing the Tango. Rest in peace.”
