Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was participating in a soccer match with Arab and Jewish youths on Monday, when he slipped and pulled a tendon in his leg.
Netanyahu’s personal physician, Dr. Zvi Berkowitz examined the injured area and diagnosed the Israeli leader, while a meeting of Likud (the political party Netanyahu heads) members was cancelled on Monday.
The game was being played at Jerusalem’s Kraft Family Stadium, which was donated by Robert Kraft – the owner of the New England Patriots – and his late wife Myra.
Reports differ as to what happened after Netanyahu’s injury occurred, with some media outlets reporting that security personnel drove the Israeli leader away from the scene, while other outlets claim Netanyahu got up and continued to play.
The injury occurred during a taping of “The Royal Tour”, which “features personal, one-on-one journeys through various countries with their heads of state”, according to CBS.
