New video released by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, purports to show the terrorist group launching rockets from Gaza into southern Israel.
The IDF has reported that since last night 77 rockets have been fired at southern Israel, only 7 of which have been intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system. Schools have been closed in the area and residents along the Gaza border have been told to stay inside and take shelter.
In response the IAF launched airstrikes on Gaza’s terror infrastructure, killing four Hamas terrorists. According to a report in the Jerusalem Post President Shimon Peres denounced the rocket fire from Gaza, stating, “there is no circumstance under which they will fire upon on us and we will sit on our hands.”
“I want to tell the residents of Gaza and their leaders, they have to decide what they want,” Peres continued. “If they decide on war, what can we do? If they decide to build, there will not be war.”
A new report is claiming that Defense minister Ehud Barak and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz decided Wednesday to redeploy troops involved in joint Israel-U.S. war game Austere Challenge 12 to southern Israel. The military exercise’s mission was to practice against potential attacks from Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas. An IDF spokesperson denied the report, telling The Algemeiner, “there is no planned change in the exercise, including personnel number.”
