In a rocket attack from Gaza this morning, a home was hit in the southern Israeli town of Sderot, home to approximately 24,ooo people, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
Since the beginning of 2012 over 450 rockets have hit Israel, already exceeding the number of last year’s attacks. In the month of August alone, over 20 rockets hit Israel, according to an IDF spokesperson communique.
Reacting to the incident newly appointed Home Front Defense Minister Avi Dichter said that Israel will have to alter its deterrence strategy vis-a-vis Gaza-based terrorism, the Jerusalem Post reported.
“Israel cannot tolerate rockets being rained down on it, he said, stressing that Israel needs to initiate at a time of its choosing a process of devising a ‘complete deterrence strategy to stop the terror,'” wrote the Post.
