The Queen of Holland has dubbed Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs an Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau, an honor typically bestowed on royals, diplomats, artists and others. Jacobs has been the chief rabbi of the Netherlands for 30 years and has been lauded for his activism in interfaith relations in the country.
“The award given to Rabbi Jacobs is an honor for all the Jews in Holland. It gives our community great pride and we thank God and congratulate Rabbi Jacobs and his wife on this great honor,” said Dr. Benoit Wesly, chairman of the Dutch Jewish community in Limburg and Honorary Consul of Israel to the Netherlands, according to Israel National News.
