A video shown Wednesday evening at the Republican National Convention taking place in Tampa, Florida, stressed the Republican Party’s Presidential Nominee’s strong support of Israel.
The showing followed a speech from former presidential candidate Senator John McCain, who alluded to the ‘existential threat’ that Israel faces, saying, “We can’t afford to stay on that course any longer. We can’t afford to cause our friends and allies — from Latin America to Asia, Europe to the Middle East, and especially in Israel, a nation under existential threat — to doubt America’s leadership.”
The video featured footage from Mitt Romney’s recent visit to Israel, and features his affirmation of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
“We speak the same language of freedom and justice, and the right of every person to live in peace, Israel and America in many respects are reflections of one another,” says Romney at the opening of the clip entitled “Israel: Cherished Memories.”
“Mitt Romney believes America shares a deep and cherished relationship with Israel, and like the United States, Israel respects the rights of people of all religions and will preserve the holy places of Christians, Jews and Muslims,” a narrator continues.
