Ynet – Former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates warned on Thursday that an Israeli or American strike on Iran would only bolster the Islamic Republic’s drive for a nuclear weapon.

Neither Israel nor the US has the capabilities to obliterate Iran’s atom program, he said, and a military operation against the country’s nuclear facilities “would make a nuclear-armed Iran inevitable. They would just bury the program deeper and make it more covert.”

    Robert Gates is no friend of Israel and what he is saying contradicts itself and makes little sense. He is merely using his position as Defense Secretary to bolster Obama’s position regarding Iran and to counter what Netanyahu is saying. This should send warning flares about Obama to all who love Israel – including those good but a little slow folks in Ohio.
