One of the leaders of the Free Gaza Movement, the group responsible for sending vessels towards the Gaza Strip in an attempt to break the Israeli-Egyptian naval blockade of the Hamas governed Middle Eastern territory, went on Twitter and claimed that Zionists were responsible for running concentration camps during the Holocaust.
“Zionists operated the concentration camps and helped murder millions of innocent Jews,” read a Tweet posted Sunday by @freegazaorg.
The American founder of the Free Gaza Movement, Greta Berlin, said the post on Twitter was an accident and the statement claiming Zionists ran Nazi death camps was only meant for posting on her private Facebook page.
“I shared it without watching it. I am sorry that I just sent it forward without looking at it. It won’t happen again,” read a tweet from the Free Gaza Movement on Wednesday.
Avi Mayer of the Jewish Agency for Israel first called attention to the incident, writing that the Free Gaza Movement was revealing themselves “to be the lowest anti-Semites.”
In addition to the original text posted by the Free Gaza Movement on Twitter, a video link of conspiracy theorist Eustace Mullins giving a speech was embedded in the tweet.
“[Hitler] allied with the Zionist Party, and the mission of the Nazis was to force the anti-Zionist Jews to accept Zionism — and this is what the concentration camps were about,” Mullins said during the speech.
