A short film highlighting the career of Jewish boxer Yuri Foreman screened at the prestigious Cannes Lion International Festival of Creativity this past week.
The Boxer, a commercial collaboration between Chevrolet and MOFILM, tells the story of “an immigrant boxer who never gave up on his dream and eventually became a world champion,” according to the video’s YouTube page.
Foreman is from Belarus but now lives in Brooklyn, New York. He is a former World Boxing Association super welterweight champion.
According to the film’s YouTube page, the film took fifth place at the competition. The Algemeiner was unable to confirm with the production company or the festival what category, exactly, that honor was given in. When contacted by The Algemeiner Foreman was unaware of the film’s presence at Cannes, but said he wasn’t surprised by the success of the project.
“Sean Cunningham [the film’s director] was very professional, very talented. The film looks great and I really enjoyed working on it,” he said, adding that “it was a lot of fun.”
