Secretary of State John Kerry’s assertion that the Palestinian Arabs are in a “very dire situation” is not only absurd, but also very revealing — about the fantasies that guide the Obama Administration’s Middle East policy.

After emerging from a meeting with Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas on November 24, Kerry declared: “I know that the situation for Palestinians in the West Bank, in Jerusalem, in Gaza is, at this moment, very dire, that there are extraordinary concerns, obviously, about the violence.”

“Dire”? Is he kidding or just ill-informed? When was the last time Secretary Kerry read his briefings on even the most basic information about conditions among the Palestinians?

Here’s some helpful information for him.

Life Expectancy: In Judea-Samaria, the average life expectancy of a Palestinian man is 73.6 years, for a woman it’s 77.9 years. That’s higher than Brazil, Turkey, and Russia, to name a few.

Literacy: Two years ago, the PA’s own Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced that Palestinian Arabs now have one of the lowest rates of illiteracy in the world, just 1.8% among men and 6.4% among women.

Infant Mortality: The infant mortality rate among Palestinians in Judea-Samaria –according to the CIA’s World Factbook — is currently just 13.08. That’s lower than Venezuela, Peru, and the Philippines. There are 114 (out of 224) countries on the list with higher mortality rates than that of the Palestinians.

Poverty: According to the CIA, 18.3% of Palestinians in Judea-Samaria live below the poverty line. That figure was 60% as recently as 2002. Among the countries that currently have a higher percentage than the Palestinians of people below the poverty line: Spain (21%) Romania (22%), Bulgaria (22%) — and Israel, at 21%.

That’s right: there are more Israelis than Palestinians living below the poverty line, according to the CIA. The Israeli social policy group “Latet” reported last year that the the Israeli poverty rate is 31.6%. The Israeli government’s National Insurance institute, which measures poverty differently, calculates that 18.6% of Israelis are below the poverty line –but even that figure is still higher than that of the Palestinians.

Likewise, from a political point of view, how can any reasonable person think that the Palestinians are in a “dire” situation? More than 98% of them live under the Palestinian Authority, not Israel. They have complete self-rule. They manage their own educational, social, economic, and political affairs. The only thing that a sovereign state has — and that the Palestinians don’t have — are a military, tanks, and fighter jets. That’s “dire”?

Perhaps most troubling is the policy position that Secretary Kerry and the Obama Administration are promoting, based on this fantasy about the Palestinians’ dire straits. Kerry told reporters in Ramallah that he had come to the Middle East “at the request of President Obama” in order to “restore people’s confidence in the ability of a two-state solution to still be viable…”

Obama didn’t send him to demand that the Palestinian Authority stop encouraging young Arabs to stab, shoot, and ram Jews with their cars. Obama didn’t send him to help our ally Israel protect itself against the stabbers and snipers and rammers.

No, Obama sent Kerry to rescue the goal of giving the stabbers and snipers a fully sovereign state. To “restore people’s confidence” in the viability of “a two-state solution.” For Obama and Kerry, morality doesn’t matter. No matter how many Palestinians murder Jews, and no matter how much the Palestinian Authority leadership encourages and incites those murders, they must be given a state.

Because, after all, the healthy, well-fed, and well-educated Palestinians who already have self-rule are in such “dire” conditions.

All pro Pals spin fantasies, beginning with that they’re Palestinian people. Can we PLEASE stop using that word? Palestinians were Jewish and Christian too.

This man is mentally unstable and should be sectioned!

    • Oscar Pockle

How many sections? Do you mean “sanctioned”?

What could we expect from an adult that thinks as a 10 years old boy?

    • Donalyn

Definitely! HILLARY AND HUMA ABBEDIN, WHEN SHE WAS SEC. OF STATE VISITED TERRORIST STATE HAMAS MORE THAN ISRAEL! Huma her ass. Now and then,is Palestinian Pro sharia law, who cannot wait to get her re elected. We have already seen all the Muslim brotherhood that work around Obama! There’s an article to the side of this one that states ISIS has moved into Gaza. HILLARY EVEN ASSISTED WITH THE ELECTION OF MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD LEADER IN EGYPT WHOM WAS LATER KILLED BY THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT, THE PINK GROUP WAS EVEN THERE WHILE THEY WERE SHOUTING, ” MONICA, MONICA” AT HILLARY!

It is apparent that our leadership just doesn’t get it. The books I have read written by Condoleeza Rice and Hilliary Clinton made it pretty clear that dealing with the Arabs is a challenge because of their persistent lying, theatricalism and fabrications. It is quite telling that Obama and Kerry are so naive or they just don’t want to see the truth about these people. The enemies of Israel and Jews just have to lie and are automatically believed? Why does that work? Has everyone become so idiotic at once? Is it mass psychosis? If so, it appears that our President and Sec of State along with a plethora of other “leaders” have fallen prey. Incurable I’m afraid.

    • Phillip Galey

M-m-m, . . . yes, except, in this way, . . . as appears, our President and Sec of State—along with a plethora of other veritable lepers—hope for anything but ANYthing to distract from the recognition of their malevolence, . . .

  • Leslie Benjamini

I really don’t know how Kerry & Obama think they can get away with the lies they tell the world.and their own people in the USA. I guess they are just like the Arabs, if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth. In truth they are no better than any other antisemetic leaders of any other country in the world who are attempting to wipe the democratic country of Israel off th face of the earth. Why they are proceeding to ally with the murderers and killers and liers such as Abbas and other Muslims who do nothing but kill, maim, and mistreat their own people and others across the globe is a total mystery to me.
The two of them are total traitors to the American constitution and way of life. How they have not been impeached is beyond me. Obama has linked himself with the worst of the worst to the total detriment of the American people and the country as a whole especially in foreign policy. He is a traitor to the Jewish population as well as the Christian population of his own country.
I am ashamed to be an American as long as he in office. I am afraid the damage he and Kerry have done cannot be undone and that we are in for a terrible future. I fear that Hillary Clinton is just a worse continuation of Obama and the republicans are just a knee jerk reaction against them and no better but in the opposite radical direction.

    • who cares

Same way you get away with yours!

    • Phillip Galey

“Why do they align themselves with murderers, killers and liars?”?

When once you recognize the presence of the malevolent spirit, every whit of the Jexebel Val Jarrett – Ahaboma team will be seen as fitting into that pattern, . . .

And “How have they not been impeached?”?

Well, logically, the evil in the ppl of the USA, is jut too pervasive, . . .

  • Myron Slater

I lost all respect for John Kerry. He should have read some of the papers that have been prepared for him by his staff. If he did, he would not have made some of his comments. It’s all about the oil!

    • Phillip Galey

      M-m-m, . . . I would say, rather, it’s all about malevolence, . . .

  • Lauren Goldman

Once there is a country called ‘palestine,’ every arab in Israel who speaks treason/sedition or commits an act of violence can be immediately stripped of Israeli citizenship deported to ‘palestine,’ and put on a shoot-to-kill no entry list.

Once again – WHERE ARE THE COMMENTS?

Why did Jews vote for the Muslim in the White House?
I begged friends and family members in USA not to vote for the Muslim Obama as he dangerous and will go all out to destroy Israel for his Muslim brothers and sister.
The answer I got, was to mind my own businss and the will vote for whoever stands for the DEMS.
Now, I hope they see how right I was,
They must ensurwe that the liar Hilary is kept far away from the WH>
She is more dangerous than Obama nd Kerry.

  • Greater Israel belongs to the Jewish people under International Law!
The Jewish People’s historical right to the land of Greater Israel had been recognized by the international community and upheld by the rule of public international law.
Any view that contradicts this statement is pure distortion of the facts and history.
Israel is not obliged to support the creation of an Arab state west of the Jordan River alongside Israel and it must not concede to any such arrangement or the security and survival of Israel will be compromised. Furthermore, The Arabs have Jordan which is all the land east of The Jordan River, which is also Jewish land.
The Oslo Agreements were made with a view to enhance “a just, lasting and comprehensive peace.” Yet, since their coming into effect the Middle East has witnessed not peace but violence of the worst kind in recent history. As of today the Oslo agreement is null and void. The Arab Palestinians have not lived up to any of the agreement. The Arab Palestinians promote, preach and teach their children and the masses to create terror, violence and suicide bombing. Their only goal is the destruction of the Jewish State, read the Palestinian and Hamas Charter. When you have an Arab society that is built on terror and violence; you have nobody to talk to.
The establishment of the Palestinian Authority should serve as a “guide to the bewildered” of the grave risks posed by such an Arab State, which may eventually lead to the destruction of the Jewish State. Any land for peace compromise by Israel has made the situation worse. Sadly, appeasement and concessions by Israel only aggravated the situation and increased violence. Israel must stand its ground, resist unjust world pressure and protect its citizens at all costs. Any concessions by Israel will only make the situation worse and bring about more violence and death, as the past experience has proven.
Under public international law, Israel is entitled to diligently encourage and promote close Jewish settlement of the land of Israel, thereby realizing the principles set out by the San Remo Treaty of 1920 and the League of Nations in the original Mandate document. In 1922 in violation of the treaty, the British gave away 80% of the land allocated to the Jewish people and gave it to the Arabs to set-up a state that never existed in history. (The British wanted to protect their oil interests).
In addition at that time, the Allied powers also set up 21 Arab States and one Jewish State. If you questions Israel’s borders, you must question the 21 Arab States borders and Jordan.
It is also important to address the expulsion of over a million Jewish people from the Arab countries and the confiscation of land owned by Jewish people in the Arab countries, totaling 120,000 sq. km. (4 times the size of Israel) valued at over 15 trillion dollars and other personal assets confiscated by the Arabs totaling over 990 billion dollars.
The Jewish people resettled the million Jewish refugees from the Arab countries. It is about time the Arab countries who expelled the million Jewish people, must settle the Arab-Palestinian refugees once and for all without compromising Israel and bring about peace and tranquility to the region.
Neither the U.N. nor any Country in the world has the authority to create a state or dissolve a state, (check the U.N. charter and international law.)
A true peace will bring about an economic boom to the region of which the world has never seen before. It will raise the standard of living for all the people in the Middle East and accelerate peace and harmony.
It will also divert the billions of dollars invested in war materials to be used to advance the economy, medical and social services and more.

He probably reads what an Arab website publishes about Israeli soldiers kidnapping “palestinians” and gas bombing a hospital. Israel needs to counter that website (I don’t want to give it credence by writing its name) and others like it that are probably misreporting the news or not saying why Israel did those things.

  • Michael Mayben

There is nothing “dire” existing in Palestine other than their murderous mentality against Israelis and their continued squatter occupation of Palestine, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip which is Israeli property being occupied by Arabs. Obama is once again showing his belief and support for Muslims and Islam. Obama, his Administration (with numerous Muslims in management positions), and Kerry are pushing their Muslim agenda on Israel as Obama is upon the American people. It’s plain to see Obama’s agenda at work when he sends Kerry to Palestine to phony up a story of Palestines “dire” conditions with no effort from Obama and Kerry to pressure the Abbas regime’s to reign in their terrorist acts on innocent Israelis.

  • Carol Ann

Excellent piece!!! Thanks for those great statistics, too, that give lie to the Palestinian propaganda!

  • Martin Katchen

What can we expect? This isn’t the first time John Kerry decided that terrorists weren’t terrorists. The Viet Cong were a number of things. And terrorists was one of them. Kerry fought them honourably, came home, decided the VC were not terrorists and threw his medals away at the Pentagon in a Vietnam Veterans Against the War march. What Kerry is doing now is well in character for him.

  • Dorothy Nicolazzo

Kerry is a brainless liberal with ZERO
comprehension of reality concerning Israel v. “The Palestinians.”
Only his boss is more naive. Send them both free tickets to “Pallywood”
performances or, maybe, they have alresdy

  • Ivana Talya Tufakov

Regrettably, it is useless to bring factual or statistical information to either of these two miserable excuses for public servants. America’s SOS lapdog is so inept he couldn’t count to 21 if he were barefoot and his pants were wrapped around his ankles.

  • Mickey Oberman

Obama, using Kerry and any other of his multitude of puppets, is determined, that before his term expires, to inflict as much damage on Israel and also on the USA.
That has been his goal for at least the past 8 years.

And to think that this delusional person could have been President of the US. Worse yet I voted for him. WOW. This yet again shows the anti Israel obsession of the Obama/hilary/kerry administration. Reality is irrelevant to Obama/hillary/Kerry the changes to the structure of the Middle east does not even register in their minds. The area wide sweeping islamic revolution, part of Obama/Hillary arab spring that they are so proud of absolutely precludes Israel from any land concessions. We also know that US guarantees under Obama are worse than useless, suicidal is more appropriate, We also know what redlines mean to Obama.
From Obama/Kerrys’ Iran negotiations we also know that their word is not to be trusted. 13 months to go lets’ pray, hope, wish, etc theydon’t do too much more damage. How about sending them to Disney, they can have fun, lots of photo ops and maybe not play president and sec state . We need a break.
