Presidential candidate Donald Trump ended his speech at the annual AIPAC policy conference in Washington, DC on Monday by touting the imminent arrival of his Jewish grandchild.
“My daughter Ivanka is about to have a beautiful Jewish baby,” Trump told the 18,000 AIPAC delegates who gathered to hear him speak at the Verizon Center. “In fact, it could be happening right now, which would be very nice as far as I’m concerned.”
Ivanka converted to Judaism before marrying real estate mogul Jared Kushner in 2009. Together they have two children: Arabella and Joseph. At The Algemeiner‘s Jewish 100 Gala last February, Trump joked that while he didn’t plan on having a Jewish daughter, he was “very glad it happened.”
Among the topics he addressed during his speech at AIPAC was the possibility of Israeli-Palestinian peace. He said, “Palestinians must come to the table knowing that the bond between the US and Israel is absolutely unbreakable. They must come to the table willing to accept that Israel is a Jewish state and will forever exist as a Jewish state.”
The real estate mogul referred to Israel as America’s “cultural brother” and called President Barack Obama “the worst thing that’s ever happened to Israel.”
“When I become president, the days of treating Israel like a second class citizen will end on day one,” he promised. “And when I say something I mean it.”
