Gefilte Fish Draws Mixed Reactions From First-Time Tasters in New Viral Video
by Shiryn Ghermezian
A new video compilation showing people tasting gefilte fish for the first time, and exhibiting mixed reactions to the traditional Jewish fish dish, commonly eaten with horseradish, has attracted hundreds of thousands of views.
The clip, released by the entertainment website BuzzFeed, shows some participants in the exercise showing appreciation for the flavor and texture of the boiled ground patties, while others compare it to cat food and bland tuna. One taster even suggests that having to consume the dish again would be tantamount to torture.
One participant admits that though he is Jewish, he has never had the stomach to try gefilte fish before. After daring to give it a shot, he concludes happily, “I would definitely eat this again…I think this is a perfect example of don’t judge a book by it’s cover.”
